hey, I have a 97 Ford Ranger right now and it hasn't given me any problems. I beat the crap out of it, been in 3 accidents, and it's got over 175,000 miles but it still runs very well. So far I've enjoyed my American car, picked up many chicks in it, and have not ever been stuck on the highway! I don't care about resale value, I want to get a car that I'm going to enjoy for a while.

I'll list the cars I've owned
corvette 93?or 94?= total shop queen, made the guy take it back
Ford explorer 01'= recall after recall (not tires, it was already replaced) joints, console etc.
Intrepid #1 97'= constant engine problems and damn thing veered to the left all the time
Intrepid #2 99'= power windows always messed up and same veering problem (very lose steering response)
Ford escort94?= engine and tranny problems
neon 97'= constant engine problems, never fixed right
    f-150 94'= cheap factory belts
s-10 89'= distributor cap was never designed right

p.s. I had all of these cars by the time I was 28 wtf?
All of these problems were listed almost word for word in consumer digest, but I kept believing that American cars would get better, Next car is going to be a honda accord(would get it now, but I can't get shlt for the explorer )

These were all bought new, I know alot of other people that had the same problems and more with their American cars. (like I said I was the last person to consider Japanese, but hell I can't waste any more money )

the only benzes I really like are the SLK Kompressors, but they are more expensive than the cars I'm looking at and IMO don't look as nice. Also, with the exception of the Porsche a Mercedes would be more expensive to maintain than the CTS and the Charger

you know what, I would also really love an H1 - I looked on the internet and found some around '89-'91 for around $25,000. What do you think about that!!! One of them looked nice, too. It was red exterior with tan leather inside, and in good shape.

I'm definately leaning towards a 2000-01 boxter, but I looked and found some '95-ish 911s for the same price, what do you think about that?

obviously a 911 would be better, but keep in mind insurance and reliabilty, you dont want a porsche with 100,000 miles

if u have about that much cash 2 play with get a cobalt ss/supercharged then dump $1500 extra into it for stage 2, cold air, exhaust & the car will eat mustang gts camero's the porcshe boxter & lots of cars! i love mine its so quick!
my next car would b a dodge neon srt-4 very quick & tunable!
if u looking more for all wheel drive go for the mitsubishi evo 9 or the subaru wrx sti those cars scream & are lots of fun!!!

dont buy a bmw or mercedes or some car like that unless u have the cash to fix them!! my buddy is a mechanical @ bmw an oil change cost $118 & the smallest bill coming out of the shop was around $800 think about it!......

the dodge charger is very nice i test drove the daytona version with the hemi in it the car was very fast & good handling the only downside is that is does not come in manual transmission!

porsche boxter = poor man's porsche

cadillac cts is a nice car but more for an older crowd

pm me if u have any questions on just about any car! i'm a car nut & i go 2 school 2 work on them! i also test drove many many cars so i can give u my thoughts on some cars & how they perform

    The Porche!

However, if looking at Sports cars in that price range. I like these better. Mercedes SLK (Roadster), BMW Z4, Saturn SKY.

    Good luck bro!

I like the boxter but i think it says ...." i bought a porsche but couldnt afford a 911" based on performance & options....its overpriced IMO. look for a reliable, sweet looking ride that you can drive EVERY day & have fun driving it & it looks good too within your price range...think of repair costs that you may incurr, fuel, insurance....etc... who cares...based on the cars he put up in the beggining he is obviously not looking to race, but be pimp. I am not a huge fan of american cars but I would take that charger in the non-hemi version over a ss cobalt ANYDAY. I have driven the dodge neon sr-t before and no doubt it is quick and I had alot of fun with it...but when I got out and looked at it...i realized it was still a neon.

You have the money for maintenence? Getting a pimp ride is one thing...affording a 500 bill for your you automatic rain sensors (not exxagerating...that is what it cost me!!). Like everyone else said...factor in insurance...you still a student??

YOu really need to consider the g35 2 door...that thing still catches my everytime I see it, and its pretty quick.

Well said...a boxter will lost just about to ne car in the same class and lower, meaning a s2000, 350z will spank and out handle them. A boxter wont impress anyone because everyone basically knows a boxter is for housewives and ppl who want a porsche but cant a afford a real one.

The Stage Two Kit (P/N 17803229), with an MSRP of $750.00, yields more power through the middle section of the power curve versus the Stage One Kit. The Stage Two Kit includes the parts available in the Stage One Kit and adds a smaller supercharger pulley and drive belt, pushing the engine alive with 241 hp and 218 lb.-ft. of torque across a broad engine speed range.

Sorry, but there is no way you beat a SS Camaro.

Who cares .. I wouldnt even waste the gas racing a cobalt!! Sorry!! They are fast for a 4 cyl though.. but yes... let see... a girl asks what kinda car you drive, you answer "a cobalt"... she says "cute". Or you could say "infinity g35".. then shes saying "hot" and thinking "wow hes cute, good car, must be established"yada yada... btw my choice would DEF be the g35 if you can find one in the price range!!

I just drove my friend's porsche boxter S, which is more expensive and nicer than the regular boxter. It had awesome power (goes up to 60mph in 1st gear!) and great handling. Very smooth ride as well. I loved everything about it, except for the pedals!!! My feet are too big, so when I pushed on the accelerator my foot also touched the break, and the cluch is even closer to the break than the accelerator. I honestly could not drive it unless they made it bigger. I loved everything about it, EXCEPT for the spacing of the pedals

i def like the g35 its an awesome car performs & handles great. if u can find 1 for a reasonable price go for it. just make sure it wasnt beaten to hell!
also look into the 350z see which 1 u can get a better price on the are pretty much the same car just different manufacturers

& yes i did smoke a camero ss it was a rolling race not off the line meaning we did 35 to 95 roll
u also forgot 2 add in that it has a cold air & a corsa exhaust which makes the car put out about 260 horse.. the reason behind y i won was because my car is lighter, shifts quicker, & the engine responds quicker due 2 the supercharger
i'm not tryin 2 flame any1 or anything or pursue any1 into buying that specific car i was just telling ppl whats its capable of.
i also used to own 92 3000gt vr-4 which had almost 500horses all-wheel drive theres pics of it somewhere on this board i would of never got arrid of it but the transfercase & few more things were on the fritz again so i wasnt dumping more cash into it!
