Favorite place to live or visit
I wouldn't say I'm well traveled. I've been to Canada, Jamaica, and I don't know if this counts but Jersey, Florida, Savanah, GA (lived there), penn, Vermont. Savanah, GA had a cool vibe to it. It seems to be a wild element there and plenty of quaint characters walking the seaport. You can even drink on the streets and the front of bars are completely open to the streets. Seafood aplenty.
Of all the places I've lived and visited, however, I'd have to say my favorite place was New Paltz, NY. I love upstate NY - the rent was affordable, the trails (I did alot of running through the nineties) were cool and if you like climbing, there's some of that up there. But there was something so inspiring about the mountain ridge that dwarfed that town. Plus, you can go to the nude part at split rock were you can get naked, get baked (to increase your appetite for bodybuilding, of course), and just get lost in the woods. Good times! I like that kind of environment over the suburbs of LI, NY. You just feel closer to nature up there whereas on LI, you have to many SUV's and strip malls. New Paltz will always be a part of me.Last edited by Mike Dura; 08-23-2006 at 12:27 PM.

Cali is expensive. I'm with you though. I like the tropics as well and I'm looking into affordable places to live were personal training has a market. I know, for example, that there might be a niche in Florida with all those retired baby boomers. There's nothing like going to the beach on Christmas day.

I use to want to live up north in the country but im not sure now since i went to Panama City beach. It would be one or two places for me-either out in the country in the middle of nowhere or on the beach somewhere.

That sounds great! I want to learn more about the Spanish speaking cultures and I'm teaching myself spanish right now. I hear Madrid has a liberal kick to it. I'd like to break into these new frontiers because this America thing seems a bit old.

For a while I lived in Prague, CZ and Kuwait, South Korea, Washington State (near Seattle), East coast of Florida, Wisconsin, and now Phuket, Thailand. Some countries I have visited are Costa Rica, Panama, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Holland, Cambodia, Burma, and I'm sure a few others I can't recall.
I enjoyed living in Prague...beautiful women, walking through the city is like walking into a movie scene at every turn, just beautiful. That said, you've got to find a place that really suits your lifestyle. For me, it's the ocean, tropical beaches, sunshine, palm trees and turqoiuse waters that speak to me. That's one of the reasons I love Thailand.
Living in the US isn't something that appeals to me anymore. I love my country, don't get me wrong, the vast majority of my life was inside the US borders. It's just that I don't feel like I have a fair amount of freedom to live there like I want. When I'm in the states, I'm constantly watching the speed limit, trying to follow rules and stay out of trouble even though I never do anything to get into trouble. Part of why I love to live in places like Thailand and Czech Republic is that in those places the government gives you enough freedom to fvck yourself up. You know...what I mean is that, it's not so heavily regulated and things aren't enforced to the point where the daily norm turns into a boring way of life. Here I can drive my motorcycle on the wrong side of the road, in front of a cop, after drinking a liter of whiskey and while it's not the smartest thing to do, I like the fact that I can do that.

Born and raised in the U.S... I have been everywhere from the Hawaiian Islands, Alaska, West Coast and East Coast. My overseas travels have brought me through several countries in Europe, the Middle East (current) and Southwest Asia and I want to hit up Africa... like Tangier in Morocco or a Safari tour in Kenya soon. And deffinitly visit South America someday.
So far, inside the US: I like the Southwest. I like the people, how easy it is to fit in as a new guy and the climate. I least like the East Coast, particularily the Baltimore/DC area... people seem way too stressed out and too distracted to enjoy anything.
Overseas... I have really enjoyed the really old and historical areas in Cyprus, Greece and Macedonia. Many of the people are very nice and the food is good. Lebanon was also facinating and I hope that country can work itself out of all the problems so I can safely revisit it again someday. I like visting and temporarily living in places overseas - but I will always intend to live in the US... I hold my American passport tight in my travels!

I lived in Germany for 6 months and traveled throughout Europe. I would have to say that I would love to live in London or somewhere in England. I don't know if I would like to live back in Germany though. Canada is a great place to live but I'm all about the east coast, I could'nt imagine not living near teh ocean. Boston was a great place to live also, really solid city to live in.
