Well, I am fairly big (5' 10" - 270), not ripped (just under 13% BF, now) and very married, so the picking up is not much on the agenda. However, I will say this - as I have gotten bigger, people will just come up and touch me. I mean total strangers, like I am some statue or something. And people I know well, too, they just start touching me while we're talking. It's kinda weird, but kinda cool, in a freakish sort of way.
