I just want to extend a big hug to all of you whom have lost someone close in 9/11.

Why do we celebrate horrific events?

Seems to me we should put 9-11; Dec 7. and terrible events behind us.
Instead we do just the opposite. I was in the Vietnam War and am very
patriotic! Still reliving these disasters does not seem healthy.

Additionally, If while we are on 9-11 why not mention the thousands
of Soldiers and 20,000 soldiers who were wonded in battle.

Just because someone does not mention those who are protecting us don’t mean they don’t care. This thread was to those who were involved or around the tragedy. Those man and women who fight to keep us safe are thought about each day.

How can you condemn someone for showing compassion?

If we were to forget the past we would never be where we are today. There is a learning experience with good or bad event.

We have Veterans Day, and Memorial Day to honor our vets and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. 9/11, Dec. 7, etc...should never be forgotten. By the way...I'm also a combat vet and understand freedom comes at a price, and that the threats to our freedom today are not as direct and obvious as they were in WWII, but threats just as deadly.

To everyone that was affected by 9/11, remember to direct your anger and rage toward the appropriate parties....the terrorists. Don't dishonor them by allowing their death and suffering to become a political talking point for one party to try and gain advantage over another.

My mother passing away was heartbreaking as well...should I forget that?
Even after 20 years...if someone gave me their condolence; that would show me a sign of respect for me and my mother.

    I'm not Reliving....I'm REMEMBERING!

As a person who lived in NYC through all of this it's just a day that you can visualize from the moment you woke up till the minute you closed your eyes and went to sleep. Not many people can do that with an individual day. Although I was only 14 when these events took place it was the most unreal thing that had every happened to me. The fast paced city that never slept was put on a long nap. I dont know about you, but this day just makes me very angry that there are more of these cowards plotting things to further instill fear in americans.

I was wondering the same thing this morning when they were singing "Glory,
Haleluyah" that remembering tragedies brings back sadness/pain, but I think forgetting about it would be sad as well and impossible. Agree that remembering does make us better even though it causes our least favorite emotions...sadness and anger.

remember those who died for all of us.they all were truly heroes and martars. wether they were civilians, police, fire dept, it doesnt matter. wether you knew them or you didnt know any of them it doesnt matter. the days of this event changed us all for life, and as a country, we became much closer and stronger. yes there were more negative aspects to this tragedy, but this was one positive out come of the situation. never forget, if we dont learn from history and our mistakes, history will repeat.

there is nothing wrong with remembering events such as 9/11, pearl harbor or d-day and there is nothing wrong with shedding a tear or two. the united states of america may be the most powerful nation in the worled but it's also a compassionate one also. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Right On! The real hero's. Now it's sad to hear they have lung problems.
Hope America does the right thing and pay their medical and disability.

I tip my cap to any policeman or firefighter involved in 9/11. This is a day of remembrance and I think we need to remember and value that day, eventhough it was a terrible event. We remember the poor souls that lost their lives not the event
