the thing that i think differs the most from rugby to football, is the love of the game...most(i didnt say all) football players are greedy little bitches that just want more money to play....rugby players dont get paid that well over seas(not near the amount for football players over here), they play becuase they LOVE the game...which i think is what a sport should be all about...just my .2 cents

there are a few punters from AFL,i never said rugby league players were suited to NFL, Willie Mason is in talks with a few clubs over there.
i believe NFL is all about explosive power for short sustained periods.totally different sports.ive played both forms of the sport, american football never felt as hard because i never lined up against pro players, mostly just 90-100kgs players.the same type of size as rugby league players i played against 80-115kgs,the hits from two front rowers felt 3 times as hard without pads.
theres no way high school kids size differs from here and there, and rugby league kids dont wear pads.
btw i put that picture of jamie up with pads on for this thread.
i know some really unfit blokes that play nfl too.

There was some rugby guy that punted for the San Diego Chargers a few years ago. I dont think he played more than a few seasons. The thing about football is you are taking guys of all different sizes, and putting them all over the field based on the job they must perform. Athletes in rugby league or whatever you call it, are decent sized guys who condition themselves differently. In the NFL, you have huge lineman who train for power, linebackers who train to be big and fast, defensive backs who train for speed and quickness, etc..... You cant really compare the two. Now if you trained an NFL player to play rugby, he would probably be pretty good at it. Likewise if you take the elite athletes in rugby and trained them to play football, Im sure they would do just fine. A good athlete is a good athlete, bottom line. But there are many elite athletes that get cut from NFL teams. To be a starter in the NFL you have to be one of the best.

As far as ssaying that high school kids go, Id bet that they are quite a bit bigger in the US. In most all schools kids are started in a weight training program as soon as they arrive. In some places where high school football is very competitive, you would be shocked to see how huge some of these kids are. Some schools have NFL sized lines.
