I ran another marathon today...
My wife has been training for the Dallas White Rock Lake Marathon for quite some time now and my plans were to attend the event as a spectator in support for her. Well, those plans changed quickly last night as I received some bad news about a young boy who's in my youth ministry group who passed away from brain cancer yesterday. So, I decided to run the marathon in honor of this young boy who passed away. I made it through the entire marathon and it was both his spirit and will to live that enabled me to finish the race. That had to be the case because I had not run in over 6 months.
Grace and Peace,

I've calculated that I burned about 3200 calories during the event. Lets just say that I've taken full advantage of the replenishing process!

And just for the record, I am sore as can be today. I do NOT recommend running a marathon w/o training for it!

You know, it varies per person. There are several training schedules that you can find on the Internet. Here's an example:

Running is like a trade in that it becomes easier with more practice. The key to long distance running is finding your "running zone". Ones running zone is the point to where both your heart rate and breathing levels out equally. This enables you to continue running until your legs eventually tire out. One of the most common mistakes that most beginner runners make is that they start out running at a pace that's too fast for their own good. The key to finding your running zone is to manually force yourself to breathe slowly. Breathing more slowly allows your heart rate to slow down as well, which in turn, allows your body to find it's comfort zone. It typically takes me about a mile to find my runners zone.
