IMO probably one of the best movies this year. It's is right up there with Brave Heart. Some nasty scenes made at least 5 couples get up and leave. I love crap like that though, what babies. Anyone see this movie and like it as much as I did?

i saw it yesterday, and i liked it....pretty dang good
story line?
or just action?
i think it looks stupid
can't wait to see it
De ja vu was good, but this movie is a classic. Its one of a kind, and some of the scenes are crazy. Have not seen blood diamond yet. Trust me bro, go see this movie. Great date movie, cause you know that your girl will be holding on to something tight!!Originally Posted by aadrenaline
I am stoked to see apocolypto, hopefully Mel Gibson did as well on this one as he did on Braveheart.
Plan to see Apocalypto tonight. Saw Blood Diamond last night ... excellent movie. Leonardo DiCaprio is turning out to be a pretty decent actor.
About time they started putting out decent movies back-to-back.
Another one coming up in January looks like a good one: 'Pathfinder'
I'm hopeing on seeing it too.
y don't u see it first- then voice ur opinionOriginally Posted by justinandrews7

I liked Blood Diamond way better than Apocalypto, which I thought was just okay, just pretty good, not great.Originally Posted by kman
good movie, quite a bit of action.
It looks good. I wasn't sure if I was going to see if, due to the Mel Gibson comments, but maybe I'll take my fiance to it.
Apocalypto was a great movie…. IMHO I though it truly captured the continuing cycle of human savagery from civilization to another…the ending was great with the Spanish Conquistadores and the Christian Priest.
braveheart sucked hard so if it's 'up there' with it i'll avoid it. i am intrigued though, because i'm fascinated with mayan culture.
Don't waste your money then, hardly anything of worth in the movie. Wait till it comes out as a rental. To me it was just a rental quality movie.Originally Posted by J.S.N.
i really am excited to see it! glad to hear that it is as good as it looks.
you're crazy, braveheart was a classic, barbaric, revenge movie. they did try to get a little emotional in a couple places but almost all big budget movies do that. do you just hate violence and revenge movies or do you have another reason for hating braveheart? if so elaborate...Originally Posted by J.S.N.

If you think this movie "looks stupid" after watching a 30 second preview and Braveheart "sucked hard" than I am happy that I dont know you personally. What a bunch of losers.

it's a shitty movie because everything is all changed around in order to make the the roles as simple as possible. so the norman nobleman william wallace (who slaughtered tons of women and children in his day) because this simpe, poor, highlander only reacting to english violence against his special lady.Originally Posted by zodiac666
it's not technically a revenge flick either, it's a story about a struggle for "freedom" although in the true socia context it was just one set of nobles from a norman/germanic/celtic background fighting over territory in the north of britain. alot of the ethnic divisions from today weren't present at that particular time, esp. since the big players like wallace, bruce, edward, had nothng to do with celtic or pictish traditions.
if you want a good revenge story read the count of monte cristo. the newer movie adaptation starring jim "jesus" caviezel is garbage, but i heard the bbc made a great miniseries back in the day. instead of telling a simple, black and white tale of wrong and vengeance, it brings in the social realities.
but then you have to think while you watch the movieOriginally Posted by J.S.N.
So what? Bro, its a MOVIE!!! Its not a documentary.Originally Posted by J.S.N.
So going by your lousy logic, I guess "The Godfather" and "Saving Private Ryan" sucked too because they didnt truely represent the actual weather during that timeperiod, and oh yeah, the grass was longer in real life too.![]()
I saw it 2 times already. Great, great movie. IMHO best movie of the year.
never once did i critique it for historical inaccuracy, i critiqued it for altering facts in order to make it appeal in a purely kneejerk fashion, which in turn makes in melodramatic and cheesy. the godfather is actually pretty good although it' lacks substance, and daving private ryan suffers from not only the same black hat/white hat crap as braveheart, but also spielberg's lack of directorial talent. half the movie is shot at like half a trillion frames per second. what an idiot he finds a trick and abuses it until it's cliche.Originally Posted by Johny-too-small
