That's a good doorman/bouncer story - I like the way you wrote it!! When I saw the title, I thought maybe you had to fight with some cops as a result of throwing someone out of your club. I didn't know that the patrons WERE cops until near the end. Do you keep a diary or journal of all the funny stuff that happens at your club? You should - then take the best ones and turn them into a book. Seriously!! Look at what Robert Twigger did with "Angry White Pyjamas" (I am a graduate of the same training - Yoshinkan Aikido Tokyo Riot Police/International Instructor Course). And he sucked (still does suck) at aikido.

A friend of mine had a similar incident quite some time ago, he was working on the local club door and decided to take a wander round the club for 5 mins. There was loads of para squadies in there and they thought he was one of them, they told him they were gonna kick off with all the doormen in a few mins.

Boy did they have a shock when they ran into an extra 10 or 12 guys that had come from the next club along!!!

Doorwork is full of stories, it's a VERY colourful occupation!!

wow man you need to chill... beast said nothign bad about cops. THESE cops decided to act unbecoming of an officer and BREAK THE LAW by starting a fight. Whatever. There are many good cops, but most that I know just look @ it as simply a job and that's it. They have little passion for their work and do the bare minimum - just like nearly everyone else in the USA.

one night after i got off work at the club we were walking our cars and this woman ran up and she said she was beat up and this group of GIs tried to rape her in the ally. These men were sitting in a taxi waiting for something so we called the police. About 15min later a cop shows up, looks around, DOESN'T even talk to the woman, and drives off laughing.

If I didnt have to I wouldn't call the police for any reason, so don't accuse me of being willing to run to the police, begging for their help. The only time I have ever called the police was since I was unable to make an insurance claim on my car without a crime number.

Personally, I've had a cop perjure himself in court in an attempt to send me down for a long time, luckily I had witnesses who testified to the contrary and it didn't work. I know its not indicative of all police, but the majority I know are lazy, uninterested in solving crime and completely unhelpful. So don't ask me to respect them

Same stuff has happened to me mate. I never call the police because they just create more problems for us. I am not anti-police as in some situations some of them do good jobs, they are just not helpful to us when we are working the doors. In fact they often arrest us (the doormen) and let the drunken idiots go. We are easy pickings as we have badges that identify us and paperwork saying we were there at a certain time ect. Its an easy arrest for the cops compared to nicking some guy with no docs,no fixed abode who will not pay the fine cos he never worked in the first place.

COP bashing?? Actually, what pisses me off is all the CIVILIAN bashing that is going on.

You're defending the behavior of assholes (who happen to work as police officers) who go into a bar with the EXPRESS PURPOSE of beating up the doormen! (HAR HAR! Them good ol' boys!) And the CIVILIAN SECURITY, who is hired to protect the bar patrons from bands of roving assholes who are out wilding with their buddies, should "consider himself lucky that no legal sanctions (?) evolved from this."

Message: The cops are above the law. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Well you are right, In my experience the cops would have stuck together (obviously) and lied about what happened to protect there jobs/image and lay the blame on the doormen (as they usually do anyway). I do believe that they also had been taking rec drugs due to there erratic behaviour and the fact they went to the toilet every 10 minutes. This fact alone probably saved me and my colleagues from arrest. So yes I was lucky.

Just a few articles culled from "ah fayah city"; Boston, Massachusetts.

(Note: "The Departed" was regarded as a comedy when it opened in Boston.)

Boston police and the FBI will investigate... three officers accused in an intricate network of schemes that included stealing the identities of unsuspecting motorists, protecting truckloads of cocaine, smuggling illegal immigrants, and guarding after-hours parties where uniformed officers mingled with drug dealers and prostitutes.

At a trial in Federal District Court here today, the Government outlined its case against seven present and former Boston police detectives accused of systematically extorting money and favors... totaling thousands of dollars from tavern operators over an 11-year period. In return... the detectives offered escort services and unusually diligent protection to the people who paid them and made sure that infractions of restaurant codes were overlooked or erased. In one instance... a minor said that he was raped in a nightclub and three of the defendants acted to dissolve the charges.

The Boston police anti-corruption unit is investigating whether cops stole the drugs that are missing from a Hyde Park evidence warehouse - jeopardizing ongoing criminal cases in the latest embarrassing blow to a department already rocked by scandal.

A Boston police officer was scheduled to appear in court Monday in connection with a homicide at a Randolph, Mass., nightclub earlier this year. Baltazar DeRosa was indicted on Friday for allegedly driving the getaway car after the killing.

Officer Michael Lopriore of Everett, on the Boston force for 12 years, was placed on leave today after being charged with violating the civil rights of a prostitute. He allegedly forced her to have sex with him after telling her nobody would ever believe her over him. Unfortunately for him, the FBI did believe her. A 19-year-old prostitute feared no one would believe her if she said an off-duty Boston police officer repeatedly forced her to perform sex in his car. One night, she fled his car with a key piece of evidence: his badge.
When Officer Michael LoPriore called the woman to get his badge back, the FBI was listening. Normally, this behavior would warrant criminal charges, filed at the state level, as well. No word, yet, on whether the laws that apply to us regular folks will come into play here.

Harry A. Bryne, Jr, a sergeant with the Boston Police Department, has been found guilty of beating a 2003 Harvard University graduate, Garrett Trombly. Byrne arrested several members of the BC women's basketball team for drinking openly in public. Maureen Leahy, a friend of Tromblys, testified that Bryne had verbally abused the female basketball player while he arrested her teammates. Leahy... hurled profanities at her, causing her to weep, and prompting Trombly's interactions with Bryne. According to witnesses of the event, Bryne beat Trombly with closed fists and threw him across a room at the Brighton stationhouse.

Two Boston police officers have been suspended but no arrests have been made after one of the cops allegedly shot the other in an argument over whether the shooter was capable of driving following a night of boozing with fellow officers aboard a boat docked in Dorchester. Durkin allegedly drove away after the shooting, leaving Behnke's wife, a nurse, to drive him to the hospital for treatment.

Retired Boston Police detective Michael S. Flemmi was sentenced in federal court on Jan. 6 on money laundering charges stemming from his role in a 1996 illicit sale of a stash of diamond jewelry stolen from a Boston wholesaler that had a retail value of over $100,000.

One veteran cop said... it tarnishes the entire department.
"I think the biggest thing is when something like this hits the papers, you look at all the cars going by and you say to yourself, I wonder what these guys are thinking about me? he said. Do the citizens still have confidence in you?"

You ain't just flappin' your gums there, brother.

    Exactly:

"I'm a COP, so I can steal your money, rape your wife, and shoot you in the head. Don't bother calling the cops. I am the cops."

Note: Advanced students among you will recognize, in all of this, an embryonic model of, oh say, America's foreign policy in action.

I fvcking hate cops, I've had enough of them screw wiv me that i've tarnished the rest with tehir brush!!

Sue me!! This is how society works, some black guys gang rape and shoot people, everybody hates black guys in that area!! Some crazy russin white nazi boys do the same, same hard feelings, creed nor colour apply!! It's nature for an animal to oppose it's adversary.

My personal oppinion is that cops are a bunch of stuck up their own ass idiots, obviously I've not met every cop, but of the many I've met locally this is the case. I dont however take this grudge onto other forces when I travel.

But I would not bat an eyelid if the whole of Norfolk police were burnt in their sty's 1 night!! I may even chuckle, but thats because I see them as a thorn in my side.

(Yes there are MANY cops that this doesnt apply to, I dont need to be told that)

I've had a few punch ups with cops, on and off duty and never been charged. Things always work out, and when they realise that their confidence outweighs their stature they soon wind their necks in round my way!!

Norwich police? Do they turn up on combine harvesters with blue lights on?
LOL j/K man I agree to a degree. The actions of a few of the police in my area have really tarnished the rest of them for me. For example:
One night we are working at an RnB club. The police hate the club and us mainly because they see RnB as "bad" and relate it to "black crime". They actually have tried (sucessfully in one case) to shut down all RnB nights in my area. So we are working and some drunk turkish guys show up and ask to come in. They are told no as they are too drunk. The leader of the guys calls my colleague a "****ing stupid nigger". This is overheard by a customer in the club doorway who is black. He steps out and punches turkish guy. Fight ensues and turkish guys start attacking doormen. They lose. They come back 2 minutes later and hit the head doorman over the head witrh a piece of wood they found in a skip. More fighting, they lose again. Police turn up and immediately arrest whole door team. They refuse to listen to doormen and only listen to drunken turkish guys. They kept door team in the cells for 14 hours and charged them all with assault (charges dropped later due to lack of evidence). They accused the doormen of being drug dealers because they had cash on them (we get paid cash). That one incident has turned our door team against police, we NEVER EVER call the police to any incidents. If they have turned up it is because a member of the public has phoned them.

LOL well it gave us quite a laugh. The next morning a friend phoned up (one of the guys who got nicked in last story) who runs the door at another venue, he said he had a funny night as he had turned a load of off duty policeman away at the door. I replied "we went one better"!

If I end up in a serious situation where most people would consider they need the police and I deal with it by myself I VERY much doubt I will be letting anyone who wasn't a direct witness in on what happened thankyou very much

I think this thread is a perfect example of how feeling towards the police vary from home turf to the US!!

Everbody in here who is English has said "nice one" to a degree, and the US folks have mostly sympathised with the pigs!!

Maybe when the UK police force have an opportunity to shine (as in with 9/11 for the US guys) and people see them sh1ttin their pants and running away, then we will see what people think of the cops!!

Only this week in a shopping mall we had a guy running round stabbing people with a little pen knife, two cops came into the mall and refused to go search the place for him coz they didnt have stab vests on!! Yeah, coz they put public safety first. They knew he only had like a 1" blade or something and was described to be about 16yrs old. Fvckin pussies!!

My mate is the security manager, we went and searched the place and I dont even work there and only had a t-shirt on. I care more about public safety than they do.

Ok, rant over..... I'll drop it there!!
