Are you kidding? You have life good. Upper middle class life, nice car and in shape with youth and you want to join in on a sausage fest? I would of loved growing up like that instead of one getto after another Please don't flame, but anymore the military could get you killed in some damn desert for a bunch of people that would as soon kill you as look at you

The armed forces is a great idea, you get the opportunity to learn a useful trade, go to college for next to nothing, free living expenses and food, what more do you need right now if your life is going nowhere where your at? It's a step in the right direction if you ask me

Maybe you need to get away from your friends, I know I did, I joined the Marines though, and the infantry at that, I went to Iraq 2 times and lost a few friends, sucks but Im 1000 times better person for it. Im getting paid $1,225 a month to go to a community college that cost 954 bucks this semester so IM actually going to get paid 10K to go to school this year. Plus all your schooling is free that you do while your in. Free Gym membership, healthcare, you'll make 100's of new friends that no matter what you think your friends are like now, will be closer. You'll get more than enough time to work out. Food is free at the chow halls, and there is a wide variety. Not to mention im talking Marine corps, Airforce has it 100 times better. You dont pay rent so all the money you make is pure profit. I'd say go for it if you dont have plans, seriously 4 years fly's by. just my .02 from someone that was in your shoes once too.

And dont believe the no women stuff, We had no problems going out and finding the ladies and the airforce has alot more females than the 12% Marine ration.

They are, most of the airforce is in Kuwait at Rafjahn Airforce Base anyway. They have nice weight room, barbers, a F*n pool, Indoor game rooms, basketball court, tons of nice stuff man. If your going to do it and you want the best experience with the least amount of BS id definately say go Air Force. Plus if you need more excitement later, you can Become a PJ.

Maybe I should add more. My cousin is a medic and was just in iraq, he has 4 kids and is away for long periods of time. He wanted to go more than anything else, even knowing he could leave 4 kids w/o a father. My uncles were in vietnam, another useless war. I don't see how young men dying in a desert helps me get free speech, but that's a political debate. I love our soldiers, that's why I don't want them dying for a bunch worthless pieces of shlt

I would recommend air force over other branches if you are going in for job experience and education. They seem to have alot more marketable skills overall than the other branches offer. Don't know about the "sausage fest" was always able to get alot of tail. just make sure you put some thought into it. Its not like deciding which movie to watch it will affect your whole life. If you go in your will learn alot to help you further down the road. A few of them is ability to perform under stress, time management, leadership and the ability to work with others from different backgrounds and cultures.

The military builds charicter and is good choice for any MAN you'll make friends from all over the country and you'll have stories for a lifetime, You are much less likley to go to actual combat (front line type stuff) in the Air Force which is good if you like living, also the Air Force has the best looking chicks and the BEST chow out of all the armed forces without a doubt. If they take you with that criminal backround go for it. It is a life experience that is second to none. and chicks love soldiers.

Everyone talks about dying and how if you join the military you will die. Ok first off Ive been there 2 times and have over 200 friends from the marines that have been there anywhere from 1-4 times. At any given time there are 120k to 140k and usually 10people a day die? That means you have a .001% chance of dying. 3000 troops in 4 years is less than 1000 a year so less than 3 a day average out of 120K isnt that many. Ive had a few friends get killed over there, but you have to remember I was in the Infantry and CHOSE to be because I wanted that experience. And we went door to door in cities constantly traveled over main roads and went on raids. I was in Fallujah during the invasion, and we were in ramadi also, 2 of the worst places in the whole country. Well ive had 4 friends in the last 4 years die in auto accidents, and one got stabbed at a party. Ok so im going to weight the benifits I've seen compared to the gripes I've had about it (keep in mind this is my thoughts)
Pro's: 44,410 dollars tax free dollars for school, free college tuition while your on active duty. 4 years of constant income with job security, free healthcare, free gym, alotted time to work out. Shoot things and blowshit up all the time. Tons of friends, Leadership skills, discipline. Life experiences. Free 8 day trip to austrailia, 4 days in hawaii. There are so many more. Signing bonuses, constant pay raises. I was making around 47K a year because I was married but was only taxed on like 23K of it. Free room and board. Cool activities, I have friends that got to be in, Flags of our Father, the Longest Yard, War of the Worlds, and Rising Sun. We got to do security for Concerts, I did the Rose Bowl last year TEXAS vs USC. NASCAR, We got to go to wheel of fortune, and the price is right. There really is alot of cool things to do man, and we were in 29 palms CA which is a hell hole.
Cons: Alot of hurry up and wait, Meaning that with such a large amount of people in your companies it takes hours do to things that you think would take 1 hour, you'll understand if you enlist. Its very annoying. Millitary is very dictatorship in is style, and you sometime get stuck doing alot of stupid things you dont want to. If you absolutely hate it your stuck, sorry but you cant get out short of popping on a piss test and the loss of all the benifits isnt worth it. Going to Iraq, if you think that is bad, but almost everyone I know that went loved it after it was over. Alot of times your superiors are retarded they are just your superiors because they have been in longer, which is shitty. I dont know there are probably more bad things too, but all in all Im so glad I did it, but Im glad Im out now. just my .02

I guess my biggest problem with what you have to say goodcent, is How can you judge something that you, yourself havent experienced? Its easy to sit in the back and object, Id be alot more inclined to respect your dissaproval of it, if you yourself were in the position. I think Pride in yourself is one of the best things about it. I was so proud of myself, and the Pride that it instilled in my family. My mom hated me going even tried to pay me not to go. but, now her entire house is decorated in red white and blue and pictures of me everywhere in my uniform.

just my 2 cents
