Id pick the CLK 55 AMG, that the real AMG with the AMG engine. All the other AMG just have a kit. Nonetheless I still likes the 430 but would stay away from 320

There is no way you'll find a CLK500 AMG for under $30,000 with respectable miles/condition!

I've heard some sketchy things about the CLK's. Look up reviews on them and you'll see that they do pretty bad. If you want a nice car for under $30K, you can pick up a 02-03 BMW M3.

The Mercedes AMG models with the AMG engines are the equivelent of the BMW M-models, they are equivelent in categorie-level, but they are very different in execution.
Advantages of AMG versus M-models:
1-Better finish quality of materials interior and exterior
2-Lots of torque and strong automatic transmission allows for quick launches from stop.
3-Slightly better resale value
4-No common complaints about maintenance issues
Advantages of M-model over AMG:
1-Pay less for a Real award winnng sports car!
2-Handling and performance is world class both street and racetrack
3-Manual transmission is smooth and available if your into that, if not then SMG transmission is also a great experience
4-Plenty of quality aftermarket performance available
5-Autocross, race track, drag track are all fun with this one, or just a cruise on a nice highway.
The AMG is rolling in style, the materials are higher quality but they are also harder and harsher, the mercedes seats almost hurt your butt! Its very fast, but its basically a luxury car that can go fast in a straight line. Eventhough the suspension and transmission are AMG, they really dont show any sporty traits when you test the car in turns and bends.
M3 if you want both luxury and performance.

would much rather a 4 door like stuballs over a 2 door but thats me. The cls 63 is like sex
If you have to go used, I go for a clk430...trying to find a 500 or 55 with low miles/good condition for your price range is going to be tricky. I would never purchase a 'new' car with 70,000+ miles....especially a foreign car.

Look into the E class. The e500 is an amazing machine, handles great, sporty, and classy look. The thing is a beast. I have an 05 and have driven many benz's and overall the E class impresses me the most. Of course the cl and e63 are much more of a car, but you can get a 03 or 04 e500 used for 30k. Def. look into it, you wont be dissapointed
