what about complex carbs? somebody asked me whay 35 grams of complex carbs is anymore likely to be stored as fat then 35 grams of protein before bed and to be honest i couldnt come up with a simple explination.

Im kinda out of it right now so my brain doesn't want to formulate a good answer, but basically cause protein isn't stored for energy, it is used to repair muscles and build new tissue, and keep you full and keep your metabolism going. Carbs are used for energy, so when we eat them before a workout they give us energy to do shit. When you eat carbs and then lay on your ass for 9 hours, they are stored to be used for energy at a later time.

    Something along those lines.

carbs are used to build muscle as well and feed the brain and we use energy at night so instead of tapping into stored glycogen wouldnt a complex carb keep us fed throughout part of the night just as protein would?

Assuming you eat a decent amount of protein, like I'm sure everyone on here does, your body will be using that protein to build muscle and repair itself. If you don't eat much protein i'm sure you're somewhat correct there. But yeah the carbs will be stored as fat cause we don't burn thaaat much energy in our sleep.

also I forgot to mention that I'm trying to lose fat right now and my body can gain weight very easily, and my shitty theory is tailored to that need. I pretty much forgot to mention if you're just trying to get huge, I'm pretty sure some complex carbs before bed is not all that bad, helpful even.

I believe due to the fact all sugars/starches are converted to glucose before being stored as fat. Starches are converted to glucose more readily than fructose/lactose

I again state this thinking of carbs being essential in your diet is not completely true at all. There is no such thing as a essential carb, your body can though miserably live without carbs.

definately another time but when you really get into it i dont see one energy source anymore likely to be stored as fat as another. so long as the carb source is complex. and i know your body uses more energy metabolizing protein then carbs but aside from that i dont see a huge difference. put more thought into it at a later time.

glucose has functions other than being stored as fat. protein can convert to glucose as well.

The term of simple and complex carbs is too much of a generalization and the measure that should be used is the glycemic index and it is a measure of how much your blood glucose levels increase after eating certain food, basically what simple/complex carbs was meant to address

the glycemic index is outdated and unreliable
