well there is, but about 1% of what goes on in western states, for example there are about 3 rapes per year in Saudi Arabia, and about 20 thefts. I study International Politics and Law, I learned it from there and other resources.

You might say many rapes are unreported, but the case is the same in the western world.

This is cause of the harsh punishments for crimes.

I dont really care much about the Saudi government, and thing they are all scumbags that follow their own rules, they use the money in their favor without helping thier people much. And the wabbi part of Islam needs to be stoped, this is coming from muslim mouths.

Rock Solid, you should run for political office. It takes a lot of guts to spit out statistics when the fact of the matter is a human being is going to be stoned to death. She isn't a statistic, she's a living person with human rights. Once again, you rely too much on what you read, and not enough on what you feel.

Should the punishment for breaking the "law of the land" be a violation of basic human rights? I'm from Canada. We don't allow government sanctioned killings...no anarchy here.

Thankfully the petition has brought a reprieve from the king of Nigeria, I'm not sure if I posted the link earlier here.

However Sharia law is still practiced on a daily basis in Saudi Arabia, hell even during the gulf war they put restrictions on women drivers serving with the American/Brits etc forces.
Now the Hamas is threatening to bring in Sharia law in the west bank to combat the rise in crime there since the start of the 2nd intifada.
