Need Help Making Car Decision: M5 VS. CL500
I'm buying a car this weekend....but havent decided which one to get.
a 2000+ m5 or a 2000+ cl500?
Everyone says not to get a CL because the maintainance is a bitch.
The m5 doesnt seem like it would cost too much to maintain.
I like both...but something about a cl500(or even a cl600 since they are almost the same price) Looks smoother.
What do you all think?

Performance wise I would say Cl 55 or Cl 65 AMG would be comparable. There are just to many factors to determine which is better for you. i.e: amortization, cost, performance, warranty, repair costs, salvage value, insurance costs, colour, gas mileage ,etc

I would go with the M5. I have always been a BMW guy but the new Benzos have been catching my eye lately.

Bro, first off go with what YOU WANT man! Sometimes you can get a bit too caught up in what other people say, and go for the majority rules sorta thing...leaving you with the car that you like, but ultimately isn't the one YOU wanted the most.
But if your gonna ask for my opinion
I would hands down say get the M5! Theres a huge difference between the merc and BMW, they're both geared towards totally different styles, driving, and experiences. BMW always has and always will be more of a drivers car, designed more for the experience of driving, touring and tracking and far more performance based overall. The mercs are more of a flash and drive around town sorta machine, the engineering isn't at all the same and the goals of the manufacturer are totally different...choosing flash, plush leather, etc over performance.
Then again though, I'm a huge car fanatic, I've been racing since I was about 8 and I'm the guy who would choose a lotus elise and specifically have no radio or ac to reduce weight for better lap times then a fully loaded rolls royce...so my opinion might not be the best
P.S. Yes it's a strange combo to be aiming for muscle gain and yet stripping a car to increase performance...lol

by the way i just bought an M5 (yup i finally figured it out after that thread i posted).... my M5 is the greatest car ive ever driven... nothin even comes close... i will say the E amg is faster straight line but not in an over all road course... the M5 has the total package, the merc is just motor... the M is just so much more sportier... and so much more pimp... by the way why would you even consider the M5 to a non AMG merc...
