Not that i umm watch the show, this is what i heard from a friend.

I didn't care for cook either.

But Cook will be bigger. He just had better stage presence, plus he fits into the whole rock thing, which is big...kinda how Daughtry is.

David A., even though he is only 17, what he sings, isnt big. All he sings is those slow, boring songs, kinda like black R&B stuff, and him doing that, as Simon already pointed out, just doesn't work

The only reason he made it that far is because the majority of the voters are 14 year old girls.

Glad it's over, the wife DVR'd that dam show and it was on almost every day of the week it seemed.

As a musician I watched this every weekend.

Archuleta has raw talent... but honestly the competition was too big for him.

Like other American Idol contests before, people kept telling the 'young kid' how great and how young he is.

When he did well, 'oh you're so young... that's great'.

When he made poor choices, 'don't worry, it's because he's young'.. Excuses kept being made, he internalized 'em..and made nil progress.

Cook made progress from week to week.

Archuleta sounded basically the same from his first audition.

Nasal in his upper register.

Overdid the runs on most songs (i.e. oversung).

Boring song selection and goofy stage presence.

I thought Archuleta would win, because that's the American Idol precedence.

They take the young kid.

Look at Jordin Sparks v.s. Melinda Dolittle last year.

Melinda was the most talented and most consistent competitor.

She dominated every single week.

Sparks was nasal and whiny generally...Had some good weeks and some sucky ones.

But... like Archuleta, she got a lot of praise...and a lot of excuses made for her based on her age.

Overall, this year's competition sucked.

I'm glad Cook win though.
