ideas for tattoo to symbolise family

guys,

I know theres a million posts on tattoos but I was looking a bit of help and inspiration for my next one. I have two tats at the mo, got my girlfriends name on my chest ( i know, foolish, but I love the girl) and a dragon down my ribs so i dont mind it being a bit complicated.

A few years ago my parents divorced, my brother moved to scotland and last year I moved to england. I rarely see my parents or my two brothers anymore and I am looking to get some sort of tattoo that will have a design with 'mum', 'dad', 'craig', 'neal' either throughout or at the corners or whatever

does anyone have any ideas? im originally from northern ireland and, although not technically irish (or gaelic) i would consider a celtic cross, but I am looking for all input

I am of Scottish and Greek decent. Scottish and Irish last names usually have an original meaning tied to them. Research your last name a little on the internet. I found out what my original family name was, what its Scottish translation was, "He who lays upon a locked heart," and then i had it written out in Anciet Greek script going down the back of both of my arms. Nice way to pay tribute to both my mom and dads sides of the fam....Just an abstract idea if you didnt wanna do just their names Good luck with whatever.

Yeah, thats actually how I started my search I wanted to do my family crest but mine was gay, LOL.

well make one up. i took like 3 or 4 different designs. i took the sheild from one. the knights helmet from another and the the flowery border thing from another. i have to figure out what i want in my shield though.

a celtic cross done well can look ****in sick, and its a good design for incorperating personal touches. if you are getting a tattoo, my suggestion is amke a deposit and have a professional do the rest. its part of our job, yo.

think he means go in and give them your ideas, leave a deposit, and let their artistic creative minds do the rest.

im considering going for my family crest. family crests can be found at houseofnames.com and having the names put around that, though maybe have a seperate one for my mum since shes not got the surname!

only thing is, i dont like colour tattoos, and i dont like ones that say mum and are of a heart, or an anchor, or a flower. which might just screw me over lol, hence the celtic cross idea (even though i am not religious or anything at all!)
