What's the best place to live outside the USA?
So, to all my foreign juicers, where do you think is the best place to live outside of the united states?
I am 90% + sure that I will soon be leaving this country. I will most likely continue to pursue my writing career while I continue my internet sales job which I can do just about anywhere.
I no longer have any desire to live in a country that is built on control, fear, and intimidation of a nations goverment upon its citizens. I never want to have another federal agent, irs, fbi, or any other agency harassing me by knocking on my door and asking me intrusive questions. I would prefer to live in a place where my finances and what I care to do to my body is my business and my business alone and my government shall have to no right to intrude upon my privacy in those matters. I wish to have freedom of speech and not have to fear going to jail if I misfile my income taxes or if I choose to put performance enhancing substances into my body.
Basically, all I really want is freedom, and not to be bothered. Where do some of my foreign brothers suggest?
Also, my girl is a pharmacist and it would be nice if she could obtain her pharmaceutical license there and continue her profession.

If I remember right, Finland and Spain were highly rated.

Good luck. Getting legal residency and the right to work in most of the desirable countries is harder than you may think.

I have no idea about getting gear there. I am sure it is no worse then the United States at this point.
I never heard any feedback in regards to having a job prior to having residency or an approved VISA to live in AU. My wife is Aussie, so i would have to ask her. I am sure it has to be pretty much along the same lines if not easier as getting a VISA to live here in the USA.
It took us two years to get my wife's VISA, and she doesnt have a job, nor is she allowed to work until she gets her work VISA.
Here K-3 VISA only allows her to stay here & leave with multiple entries & exits, but it doesnt allow her to work. She had to apply for a whole new VISA to be able to work.
It is such a nightmare to be honest.abstrack@protonmail.com

I think you need to seriously reconsider why you're leaving. Unless you've actually had a federal agent from any governmental entity knock on your door and ask you a bunch of intrusive questions on numerous occasions, then IMO leaving the US isn't really warranted. Even if you do reside in a foreign country, you'll still be a US citizen which means you must file your taxes with the IRS every year. Even as a legal foreign resident (meaning you've gone through the proper immigration processes, pay taxes to your host country, abide by their laws, etc.), your rights will be much less than a citizen and in some countries, your rights will be non-existent no matter what visa you hold. Plus, there's the matter of learning language(s), customs, securing housing, etc., etc., and in the case of your girlfriend's profession, she will have to develop near-native fluency to work in a pharmacy dispensing prescription medications (not to mention the difficulty of obtaining a license to do so).
I've lived in Japan for the past 10 years teaching English/linguistics as a university professor. My wife is Japanese and we have two children. I'm a legal permanent resident who pays taxes and abides by all Japanese laws. Yet I have absolutely no rights. The police can (and routinely do) stop me and ask to see my identification (I'm a blond-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian) and ask me all sorts of intrusive questions (Why are you in Japan? Is your wife Japanese? Can you use chopsticks? Why do you work at xxxxxx University?). And there are businesses, restaurants, and shops which I am not allowed to enter because I'm not Japanese.
So, again, I strongly recommend a re-think. If you're dead set on leaving, then I recommend Europe. I cannot recommend Asia or the Middle East.

I HAVE had multiple investigators from the IRS, the FBI, and of course several times have I had a cop knock on my door. The cops for stupid reasons, a kid I know said I messed up his car when I was 18. The cops knocked on my door to tell me there was a warrant for me because of some parking fine and etc etc.
The last 18 months have crossed the line for me though. On cinco de mayo I was stopped at a DUI checkpoint and because I had 3 people in car with me who were loaded I was singled out and asked to perform a variety of field sobriety tests. I passed, but then when asked to submit a breathalizer I asked by what right and probable cause do you have to do this? The police officer said "that you counted to 10 instead of 9 on the last test." I said I will not submit to a chemical test, its against my rights. Long story short I lost my license for a year and of course was arrested on the spot.
I've ran an internet marketing business for about 7 years now. Around 2003 I signed up for an offshore bank accoun that I never used. In october of last year I received a letter from the IRS -whom have been trying to milk an extra $40,000.00 out of me for the last 6 years - said that I have been identified as an illegal participant in an offshore operation to evade us tax. I was forced to undergo an examination and interogation else I be summonsed and if I didn't show could spend a year in jail. I was asked questions, and for everyone I truthfully answered I was asked 3 more, the process is still ongoing to this day.
The IRS once levied the last $600 in my bank acccount. The IRS has had liens against my credit for more than 3 years. Less than one week after I was interogated by the IRS the FBI showed up at my door and started asking questions about former business partners who 1099 me. They accused me of hacking into peoples computers and selling the lists of ip addresses to other hackers. I told them that such a thing was absurd and untrue. They said a former associate had accused me of it. I said thats absurd. They said I hope your being honest, because we'll find out, and we'll be back.
I had the IRS show up at my door 3 years ago for the first time because of a business that I used to own but was forced to close because of changes in FTC and federal government policy. They said even though you lost all your profits and then some the next year you still have to pay $20,000 plus $20,000 more on interest and penalties because of the one year of profit that you did have.
The IRS, the fbi, the police have lied to me. They have harassed me, they have accused me of crimes that I did not commit. I have NEVER in my entire life harmed a single individual in anyway.
The us federal government is on a power trip like never before seen in history. All new passports contain a worldwide tracking device. Congress says that the IRS must collect nearly a trillion dollars a year and gives the IRS the uncontrolled and abusive power to collect this debt that has been passed down by former generations onto us, the current, innocent, and honest citizens who merely want to make a living. Do you know that if you own a car, a home, and are self employed or own a business, that by the time you pay your fed, state, property, sales, gasoline, city.. etc etc taxes, around 55% of your money is gone before you spend a dime and thats if you make around 50k to 100k a year.
Do you know The usa government can lie to you as much as you want, but if you tell one lie to them, even by ommission or by accident, they can charge you with a crime. Do you know nearly 1,000 new laws a year are passed into being and its the citizents responsibility to know them and obey them all?
The United states made the severe mistake of not following a policy of isolation in the 20th centurty and now we are reaping our nations mistakes. Those of us who don't agree call us unamerican and bad americans? How is mistrusting your abusive and deceitful government unamerican? That is the foundation of what america was built on.
The usa is in an evergrowing state of nation building and power gaining and control, because there are so many other countries out there that hate us, and rightfully so, that if the usa isn't the superpower that it is the federal government will not be able to excert its will upon the world anymore. This country is a fraud, and a scham, and I no longer wish to take part in it. Anymore or ever again.
I also once served this country and it sickens me. I wish to leave and renounce my citizenship and never return again until the federal government has been annihilated and lies in ashes and we the people can have our lifes, and liberty back.Last edited by nhl1; 07-28-2008 at 09:26 PM.

I'm Proud to be an American!!!! I've been all over the world, and I just love the feeling when the plane lands back on U.S. soil..... While it's nice to visit other countries, and at times I would say, ''man I wished I lived here'', I feel despite all that is going on with the economy and the war, I live in the best country in the world.

I used to say the same thing Kman, but read everything that this supposedly free country has done to me and think if you would feel the same way.
I LOVE AMERICA, and I love our people, our history, our culture.
I HATE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND THE FASCIST POLICE STATE THAT IT IS DRIVING OUR SOCIETY TOWARDS.

I agree, our government is not perfect, actually far from it. Like you said though, the history, the people, the great city's, diversity, the list is endless. I am sure you will, and would be happy in another country, but you might be surprised how much you miss it. Perfect example: I'm from NY, and was in New Zealand for 2 months.. For the first month, I would call home and say,,''I'm moving here, the people are so nice, its so clean, etc etc'' After the first month you know what I missed the most...... The rudeness!! I got sick of the polite attitude and missed the rudeness of the NY drivers and people. So while our country is not perfect, and is going through rough times, I guess you have to take some of the good out of it and appreciate some of the things we do have..

And everytime I walk into one and see the same thing I know that these huge corporations get tax breaks in order to keep giving americans wage jobs who in turn continue to give the government money with their income tax. I also know that my tax dollars are getting used by certain customers at wal mart who cheat the system to get their food debit cards because they're too lazy too work and that people who cant seem to figure out how to take care of themselves after being on this planet for sixty years are raping the medicaid system at that wal mart pharmacy that im looking at 10 feet away. Thats just a few of the things but I think you start to see my drift.
You have the audacity to laugh at me for the injustices that I have experienced and yet you have no idea that I'm one of the patriots who is out there standing on my own two feet against the government agencies who are slowly doing everything they can to take away your freedoms because they believe that you are no longer capable of taking care of yourself and that they would rather do it for you. You think I want pity or sympathy? I don't even care about empathy. You should simply know that YOU could be the next one to become a target and see how much you love this country when its you who is under their crosshairs.
You should be thanking me that there are people who have the courage to stand up against the things that they believe are wrong and fight for human rights rather than bending over and saying "thank you federal government for all of this food that I have to pay for." What, you don't think they have food for sale in places besides the usa?

Do you ever have any intelligent coherent thoughts? Or is it always just neo-conservative rhetoric that you spew from what your "buddy" in the D.O.D. has to say?
This man has SERVED this country as a Marine, and participated in protecting the FREEDOMS you enjoy. The freedom to be a complete ass and have shitty opinions, and be a neo-con. He has earned his right to be critical of this government and this country. And he has earned the right not to be singled out for HARASSMENT by government agencies because he happens to disagree with the policies of this government.
I find it funny that you actually make his point. You advocate government agencies abusing their power because someone choses to dissent against the 'allmighty' government. Thank you Lord Bush for all that you have given me.
