Well if people aren't prepared to step in, as is their perogative, then surely standing around like a vulture and simply watching is worse. In that situation, I think a person has to take some sort of action, whether its stepping in, or phoning the authorities or finding the other bouncers. ****, activate the fire-alarm if needs be, just make sure someone doesn't get ****ed up to the point of no return.

yeah but there are those "few" bouncers that have that Toughman syndrome maybe thats what this guy felt when he told him to get off the table, ive seen it alot
ive chocked out plenty of bouncers that exceeded there role of " force " and some were cops,
i know a couple bouncers out there that are humble as can be but these are the guys i would never even try to choke out

    I agree.

I'm all for phoning the authorities... or turning the hose on two guys bashing each others' brains out.

Nowhere above did I say anything about standing around watching.

What I'm not going to do is step in and get shanked.

So many times I've watched guys get gutted trying to step in between buddies fighting... or couple having domestic brawls.

'He was a good kid' doesn't bring any good Samaritan back to life.

I hear you bro....I grew up on the mean streets of Malibu and the average person doesn't know the type of sh-t that goes on down here.

Just the other day I saw this poor lady get bitched out at Starbucks because she didn't put enough cream in this thugs double latte. Nearly brought this girl to tears.....I had my hand on the fire alarm though in case anything else popped off.

Thats fair enough mate. I mean you go to pull a guy off and before you know it theres a knife between your ribs. I think some guys got the impression you would stand there and do nothing, which would be bad, but like i said, any kinda action, set off the fire alarm, turn the hose on them, is better than no action.

    LOL.
i can see where nark is coming from. i know a guy whos a vegetable right now, has been for years, because he stepped in and tried to break up a fight. would i step into a fight that didnt involve me? definately..if it wasnt fair, and i felt like someones life was in jeopardy..but im not gonna risk my life for just anyone...especially if im looking at a situation without context or understanding.
and as much as everyone says they'd be the first guy in there, ive been in countless brawls where me and one or 2 other bouncers were way beyond outnumbered, and no one was giving us a helping hand..

depending on the situation i would step in. if i see someone beating the living shit out of a man thats down and out then im sure the hell going to jump in and do my part because i would want someone to do that for me but im not going to jump in between 2 people just going at it. now if its family or good friends, i would jump in no matter what my odds of walking out were

    Ridiculous.

    I agree.

Lets protect a random stranger who signed up for the job. Also, if one were to accidentally kill this particular patron in doing so, they would be in some serious trouble for killing a marine. great trade off.

what if you see someone on the ground, out cold getting stomped on? you would still walk away? what if that was your mom or dad, would you like to see 20 people walk by and do nothing?

someones down and out and still getting pounded on im jumping in. i carry a gun so as long as i have that on me i can do it the easy way but even if i dont that person is getting the hardest blow to the back of his head that he has ever had. maybe i was made differently then most of you but i do to others as i would like others to do to me. how many people would like to have there brother or father beaten to death and find out that 15 different men could of saved him but decided to just walk by? as for going to jail, thats just insane. no jury in this entire country would convict a man under those conditions

like i said before, you show me 2 guys going at it outside a bar, i wont do a thing. there fighting because they both want to and thats just fine with me but but i WILL NEVER just walk past a downed man being stomped. if there are to many for me to handle then i pull my gun and start shooting knee caps if they keep coming after being pistol whipped, but if theres just one man, im taking him down. do i want to be killed helping someone? hell no and i wouldnt give my life for someone i didnt know but i have to at least try.

Every time PT posts something, I can't help but read the posts with Wild Bill Cutting's voice going over in my head.

But yes, if people wont actively get involved I would hope they WOULD do something. At the end of the day it could be someone you know, love and cherish, it could even be you on that floor and I would like to think people would do the same for me.

Unfortunately a lot of people now adays, rather than work for the care of the group are only concerned with saving their own necks.

If its two guys figting, or some punk get his ass kicked, you dont shit. But like you said if its some kid, a 40 year old bouncer and inch away from never seeing his kids again, an old man being beaten and mugged as a man (and hoping someone would help your grand father if things were reversed) of fuc'n course.

Thats what happened in this case. Once someone hit the kid he dropped the guy, kicked him once then ran. He was a little punk. Now his two 8-9 year old daughters will grow up with out a dad, unreal, the funeral was heart breaking I heard, I was going to pay my respects because I know his wife but there was soooo many people there.

would I have tried to save her? Yes. She was special to me. I would perhaps be dead too if we met up that night, who knows.... She saved the guys life, but it turned out that the stranger she was trying to save was a piece of shit gang member, just like the person who shot her. She didn't know the Stranger, but she tried. now she is dead.

I have fought many times side by side with the cops we hire. I have seen them punch kids in the face, stomp on them when they are down, mase, choke out with their clubs, etc. And none of it, in my opinion was excessive. You have to treat a brawl like a riot situation. And sometimes, the best defense is a strong offense. And if a kid takes a swing or pushes a cop, the cop has every right to respond with as much force as HE deems necessary in that situation.

If him cracking a guy in the face and breaking his nose means the difference between he himself being seriously hurt or going home safely to his wife and kids..... I will never tell him how much force is too much. Its at his discretion, in my opinion. (I know a lot of you think differently)

Thats horrible, but like I said when it came to something like that you walk away, but some drunk kid in a bar is a different story.

You know what, I dont have a problem with you, this just hit very close to home. His wife worked in my school and he was friends with friends of mine. Honestly though, I dont see how you wouldnt help someone, if it were thugs beaten down another I could see walking away the, this kid was 170lbs dancing on a table ina bar and when he didnt listen to the bouncer whom turned to get help he jumped on his back. Thats nobody, I would have no fear of that person, he ran afterwards down the road into a taxi, in that case, you have to do something.....in some you do nothing. To say you wouldnt help a stranger at all, is in human or p u s s y.

    ^^I never said I wouldn't help a stranger.

You took what I said about the specific situation and ran with it.

You really need to chill out.

Life isn't black and white... It's situationally grey.

    1. Always go out with a group of friends.
    2. Use the buddy system (swim buddy, Ranger buddy, etc.).
    3. Make sure your buddy doesn't get into any trouble.
    4. Have your buddy make sure you don't get into any trouble.
    5. When one of you is borderline out-of-control, it's time to leave...apologize profusely for being a drunken fvck monkey...leave...go to Taco Bell and get some gorditas, tacos, chalupas, whatever...go back to your place, pop in a movie, and chilllllll...
    6. Wake up the next morning with a hangover, no criminal record, and no deaths.
