New laptop
I need to buy a new laptop.
I cant seem to find a common consensus in the reviews in terms of the best laptop. I simply need it for school, so basically for
-Fast load up
-Excel,word, power point
-Wifi-Axs for emails, attachment etc.
Wont be using for movies or games.
I have a desktop at home and work. Looking for something light, portable with a 14 or 15.4 screen and under $1000.
Any experience, feedback, etc?
Thanks

Look on http://www.newegg.com/
If your not gaming than integrated video/sound would be perfect for you (save cash). Also don't go with anything less than a dual core processor.

http://www.edealinfo.com/dell/consum...op-deals.shtml Anywhere from 499 and above. For what you need it for right now I would stick to the cheapest Intel dual core that meets your standards

Avoid Vista if you can. It's unstable on my HP Pavillion, and I cuss it out more than I did Win95.

Buy an hp if your into pc and get their accidental coverage. I just bought my brother one that cost $1024 to the door with 3 years protection.
core2dou 4gb ram and vista 64. I can prettymuch throw it in the washer and they will replace it as i have done in the past.
but if your into mac, than macbook would be your best choice. I personally have the macpro and macbookpro.

i have the asus m50v laptop (upper end m50v, as there is dif models for the m50v's)
4gb ram, dual core 2.4ghz, 1gb vid card, 320gb hdd.
BUT
where asus REALLY shines, 2 yr warranty. and the first year has full accidental coverage...if you drop it, spill a pop, crack the screen, bust the hinge - it's covered!
plus, asus is well known and trusted..my first asus laptop lasted me 3+yrs.

if it was me id get something with a core 2 quad
but i do a lot of things that require CPU power, like music production.
Otherwise I love the laptop my brother just got fairly cheap, its wikid fast and runs great.
I'll see if I can get the model tommorow, it was like $450 but you won't believe some of the specs on it.

Yeah I'm really thinking of going with the HP or Toshiba.
Ill make sure I go with Intel Core 2 Duo.
Unfortunately they all come with Vista. Does the Vista with SP make a big difference?
