What Vitamin do YOU take?
Vitamin Quality?
From Christian Thibaudeau:
A document ranked the top multis available based on quality and proper amount of the nutrients (14 different criteria in all). They tested 510 brands and gave a score from 0 to 100% to each of them. Only 8 out of 510 scored higher than 80%:
- USANA essentials - US version: 96.1%
- Douglas labs - Ultra preventive X: 95.4%
- Vitamin Research Products - Extended plus: 93.1%
- Source naturals - Life Force multi: 92.8%
- Source naturals - Elan vial: 91.8%
- USANA essentials - Canadian version: 90.2%
- Freelife - Basic mindell plus: 82.3%
- Life extension foundation - life extension mix: 81.4%
The ''Mega men'' by GNC tested out at ... 21.1%
Centrum at 4.7%
One-a-day active at 4.1%
The Twinlab one at 26.4% (although the Mega6 is at 56% ... still way below acceptable)
NOW foods multis range from 23% to 40%
Whitey (UKI).

Jimmyinkedup had a good thread about the research on these recently. I am not able to get as deep as he did with his research but I really appreciate the link you provided. I guess I can throw away my mega men then?

I've heard a lot of skepticism and negative criticism regarding Universal. But from next month I think i'll give it a try.

Mine never turned green, but it was definitely a dark yellow when I took animal pak for a few months...Too many pills though, never again.
I haven't taken any multi-v's since and I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever.
I have been taking 3g of Vitamin C everyday for the past year or so, and it seems that is all I need (along with a proper diet). I almost never get sick.

for the record "yellow or green piss" is not an indicator of your vitamins quality. excess water soluble vitamins, namely B-2 are eliminated in urine thus giving it the color. this company makes the best vitamins i have used. http://www.supernutritionusa.com/

On the whole yellow piss topic, and this prob sounds stupid.
I noticed when I take vitamins (which is rare) for a period of time, my piss DOES get yellow BUT its not a normal piss yellow. It actually seems to flouresce a little bit, or glow like. The way it reflects light is weird. If I have yellow piss from dehydration its just like a dull piss yellow. But vitamins make it a shiny sparkling yellow, if anyone else has noticed this let me know.

it might be benign, but who knows....speaking of piss
I cant remember what I was taking....but i think it was meds for a tract infection, which hurt like a mother ****er....(it burns to piss basically because blood is present i believe, and thats bacteria related)
well anyway, it turned my piss orange....and this piss was lethal because it stained anything it came into contact with like hardcore..

I take animal pak right now but just because I got em cheap. I split those monster tabs in half because I don't think you'd be getting anything but expensive urine other wise. I really like biomedics stuff and take it most of the time. Its pricey though...major downside. The multi vitamin is in liquid form and is called bio fuel. The other component is called Get Go N. Get go N is a powder that contains a small amount of caffiene with tyrosine and various B's. You mix the bio fuel with get go n together in water and through it back. Tastes pretty good and gives a nice boost as well.

I read a study few years back that was done. They monitored two people for ten years, one person taking multi vitamins everyday and the other person not taking anything at all. Final conclusion was that there was little to no change in things that were monitored and tests that were done.

I had a bad experience with animal pak when I was younger. I was taking all the pills with some orange juice and thought I'd took them all. Finished my breakfast, grabbed the rest of my juice which had been sitting while I ate, and downed it. Turned out one of my pills fell into the glass of juice and dissolved in the bottom. It was one of the nastiest things I've ever tasted, I nearly puked. Now I take everything with water to be safe.
