Wow, yes there are still good reasons why the political and religious forums were deleted..

If you do not like someone's faith or belief, you can say..

"I don't agree" and even say why..

But when you say "You are an idiot and all you believe in is false"

That will not be tolerated..

And such behavior and disrespect will not be allowed to go on..

I say this because we all have different opinions. What is offensive to one is not to another. So when do you decide to lock a thread ? When it offends a mod or vet ? How about of it offends me ? I report it and it gets overlooked. I been flat out called a "fag" (in past) in a disrespectful way which i reported and it doesn't get locked. Maybe an edit at most.

My point is , how do you draw that line ?

I think posts should be edited, instead of the entire thread deleted. Unless the original post is itself totally disrespectful.

the problem with that is people become possessive of their writings, i appreciate the suggestion, however what ends up happening is people will quote the person and then there are multiple edits, after the 20th edit in 15-20 minutes, it becomes tiresome..

It was actually a good idea/thread that started, however most people cannot contain their bigotry in their speech or writings..

If one group of people hate them they feel it's ok to hate them back, not realizing that they need to be accepting of other's differences, especially when they demand to be accepted by others..

Or i could just do the move to one on one with the staff and let the offender defend before all of us why they are not willing to follow this boards rules and then they can hope not to be suspended or banned..

Haha, got to give credit where credit is due. I had expected the worst when I came here, and I was surprised to see the exact opposite. Excellent moderation. I've seen better modding here than many of the other forums I frequent. Good stuff.

I am not filing a grievance. This is water under the bridge but don't say "Disrespectful comments about a others beliefs or faiths will not be tolerated" when they clearly will.


Again i would like to say for the most part i think the moderators do a great job. I understand they can't be everwhere 100% of the time. I just find it hard to believe when i bring something like this to their attention it get less attention then other offenses.

And for the record, headlines never read "500 atheists stormed the cinagog and set off 50,000 lbs of ammonium nitrate". Under that fact alone I think no religion debates should be tolerated at all.
Religion has a nack for starting wars, in real life and places like this.

But I do suffer from the problem of always understanding 2 sides to an issue, and sometimes believing both sides.. even if they're opposites.

I had a VERY smart teacher for philsophy and was atheist prior to taking his class which made me agnostic. And he had the craziest way of explaining that atheists believe in a religion just like muslims, christians, jews, etc.

And he even went as far as saying science itself is a religion, and anyone who believes in science is just as religous as anyone who believes in a prophet.
Like asking what color something was and you say blue, than he'd ask how do you know its blue?
And you say "I learned when I was young"

i dont think the thread topics should be blamed. I just think that the person who is being derrogatory should be warned then suspended, then banned..
