    Radar dector/jammer

    So I ordered a Radar Detector/Jammer,
on their website they have posted that if you get a ticket within the first year they will pay the fine, and its a thirty day free trial. So I figured what the hell I dont have anything to lose to I ordered one.
But i started reading some reviews from they guy called Radar Roy, which is a retired cop and he swears up and down that it doesnt work, but i am not about to take advice from a retired cop, because why would he want people speeding anyhow? lol, So have any of you had one of these or know of anyone who has one ?

They do work but not 100% if you are going crazy speeds it will detect too late but they can be quite useful.

I really don't think they work, dude.

Even if the company pays the ticket, you'll still get points on your license and your insurance may increase.

My friend has one in his cobra.

We fly 115 or so, and it has worked fine.

    He seems to like it.

I want to say it is a Beltronic STi Driver

He use to have an Escort something, but didn't care for it too much.

He loves the Beltronic. The only downside, thus far, is he paid 450 for it.

I can double check with him tomorrow, but Im pretty sure its the STi Driver.

I don't have one. Then again, I follow the law, most of the time.

Can a cop pull you over if he just sees you going over the limit?
Even though he doesn't gun you? Couldn't he just make up some bullshit and ticket you?

    okay cool man thanks.

and where I live they can pace you from behind and judge your speed by that, but i think that is the only way they can pull you over for speeding unless they have it on radar.

One of the tickets I got said the method of determining my speed was that the cop had paced me. In other words he was doing the speed limit when I passed him. It stuck.

You mean laser jammer correct? It's illegal to jam a cops radar and you can get caught easily if you try to.

A laser and a radar are not the same thing. It is illegal to jam/scramble a police radar not a police laser, it is a federal offence to jam a radar. Look it up bud.

    take a look:

and my dad has that sti driver in his big truck and loves it....his new truck can go 90 so he had to get it.

I have one which has the sensors mounted in the front&rear bumpers for laser and radar. The unit which sounds and indicates the radar is mounted out of sight. It works very very well and detects Radar,Laser,&POP(instant on) radar.

Those ticket rebate programs are sketchy as hell, and I think they will only pay a ticket up to 20mph over the limit.

Yeah I was looking at the Escort 9500ci which has the mounts on the front and rear which you were talking about, sounds rather promising. I may look into that one after I send this one back I am getting. only problem is it runs 1600 dollars

they are useless, don't take 50/50 chance just drive safe and you will save ur self time, money and court procedures. i don't understand why u want to drive fast anyways, r u trying to impress some girls at your neighbourhood or something. lol

They work but to certain speed over limit. I believe if it's 15-22 mph above limit. Anythign more it doesnt react quick enough.

IF YOU usually go above say 10-15 above you can get a really good radar and that should help you. But if they tag you with laser than the radar's dont do a real good job.

I'll tell you one thing, my radar has save me alot . i have beltronics 975 i think. The highest in 9 series.
In any case my recommendation is to atleast have a radar, a good one at that.

And in texas they can pace you and you have to pay the ticket. sucks.
    hope this helps.

I do major amounts of highway driving, I take long trips which includes 9 hours of driving. after being on the highway for 9 hours going 55mph is near impossible when your trying to get where your going.

I know the feeling bro. I just got back from 10 hours driving. I can not CANNOT do anything under 80mph.
    limit is usually 65-70 mph.

if you have the money, get a good one with good reviews. Take a week or two to choose one.

Fixed speed cameras here dont work on radar as many are led to believe. They work off piezo cables in bedded in the road. I believe these jamers only work on hand held radar and car mounted radar.
You should really just drive to limit.

I used to use a cobra radar detector but i took it out and just stopped speeding lol... they work to an extent but have alot of falses and the real problem is that the cops dont just sit there with their laser on while their trying to catch speeders... they sit there and look for the car they think is speeding then pull their laser trigger once on that car at which point the radar detector goes off but the cops already seen u and got u on radar so its too late...ive always wondered about the jammers and the ones with the ticket paid guarantee but ive never spent the money to try them first hand

The only time "Detectors" work is when the cops radar is "Unlocked" meaning he is clocking vehicles, which usually means its too late for you. When the cops radar is "Locked", the detector will not pick up the frequency. Most cops dont unlock there radar until they see a vehicle they want to clock. usually by this time he has got your speed and locked it "your screwed". as far as "Jammers" most police radars will display on their radar that it is receiving an unusual readback and if you get caught in most states it will be confiscated and you will be ticketed.
