I did a double major. Political Science and Anthropology, and minored in Biology. The science department at UH allows you focus on certain areas with your major/minor. So instead of learning about frogs and trees and cyanobacteria this or taxonomical debates about that, most of my 21 hours were in Biochemistry. History is just a thing I love to study. I think truth is usually better than fiction. Some people read novels, I read biographies and books about various empires and the like.
My knowledge of and interest in ancient religions comes from both my affinity for history and my background in anthropology. It took me 6-1/2 years, but hey who doesn't love college?

A bit long, but you should enjoy
As per the last decade of cosmological research, the universe will not collapse. Its expansion is accelerating. According to most of the experts in this field, the universe will expand and expand until stars can no longer form as all the hydrogen has been used up and the whole place will essentially Burn Out "as the temperature everywhere asymptotically aproaches absolute Zero"
Neil deGrasse Tyson, Director of the Hayden Planetarium in NYC. He is a leading expert in the field.
However, they also theorize that there may be ways of escaping this fate for any beings still alive may be able to open a wormhole to a young universe and seed it with Infromation, in the quantum sense of the word. Since Einstein-Rosen bridges (the proper name for wormhole) are believed to be highly unstable, you may only be able to get objects at the molecular or atomic level to pass without destabilizing and closing it. But the important thing is that would be enough to transmit the quantum information for the next steps.
This incomprehensibly advanced civilization could send enough information through the wormhole to create a “nanobot,” a self-replicating atomic-sized machine, It would be able to travel at near the speed of light because it would be only the size of a molecule. It would land on a barren moon, and then use the raw materials to create a chemical factory which could create millions of copies of itself.
A horde of these robots would then travel to other moons/planets bearby and create new chemical factories. This whole process would be repeated over and over again, making millions upon millions of copies of the original robot. Eventually there would be Quintillions upon Quintillions of them, rearranging matter, perhaps just asteroids into bodies that can support life (i.e Earth)
Next, (as The DNA sequences of the probes’ creators would have been carefully recorded) the robots would have been designed use this genetic information to then clone the species after recreating a suitable environment, enabling the entire race to be reincarnated. There may be limitations to this process that result in the inability to send enough information to recreate this master race in all its former glory, but they would survive and begin anew.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind: and it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the ground after its kind: and God saw that it was good.
[I]And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness.....
And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:24-27
Sure its mostly the speculation of Quantum Physicists, and a little from myself, but the point is:
RuhlFreak55, your "Extraterrestrial Gods" hypothesis is -according to the known laws of physics- fundamentally POSSIBLELast edited by TexSavant; 04-12-2009 at 12:22 AM.

I double majored in Political Science/Anthropology. My last semester I coordinated volunteers for the Obama campaign during the primary contest with HRC. After that I went to work for a political lobby in Austin. our state capitol. They allowed me a leave of absence to work on a Congressional campaign in west Houston. We fought hard, but it was an R+18 district (rep's out# dems by 18 pct points), so we were unable to elect our candidate, Michael Skelly. We held are heads high though, having been closer than any Democrats since 1964. This district was held by George H.W. Bush (the elder that is) from 1967-71. Now I'm back to lobbying. To be honest I'm like an apprentice, there's alot to learn about how the system works. Or rather, how to work the system. (I'd always rather campaign than lobby, less ethical compromise)
I'm really not that different than anyone else I suppose, when you boil it down.
I'm not rich, but if work hard and play smart I certainly could be in the future. I think that describes most Americans, plus I'm doing something I very much enjoy, so if it never happens I don't much careLast edited by TexSavant; 04-12-2009 at 09:24 PM. Reason: spelling

that whole scenario you just put forth i've actually seen in more than one episode of sci-fi shows....not quite on such a small scale with such small nanite machines to begin and terraform but the basic idea is the same.
as for the ever expanding universe thing, i'll admit my formal study of astrophysics is still in it's infancy at the moment, not sure that everyone accepts that view of Tyson though.
lol it's prolly just like on stargate.....the gods were those alien parasites and crazy shit.....
