Just bought a Subaru WRX STI
OKay so I just got this car, its a 2006.
I traded my Subaru Impreza RS in for it.
What I was wondering is, do you think the insurance will be much more then my other car? a couple people told me that is would only be like $180 added onto my premium, if that is the case then all is well.
But I have heard some stories that they are super expensive to insure.
anyone on this board drive an STI and pay insurace? if so I'd like to hear what you pay. because I am hoping I didnt make a mistake buying this car.

I don't know about the insurance, but I'm jealous about the car. I want one.

Yeah it is a sweet car, and it has had some work done to it so its pretty fast, quite an upgrade from my RS

I think those cars are ugly as hell (no offense if you like it thats your thing), every high school street racer back in my hometown drives one. I just don't see the physical appeal.
For me I like the new Camaro, it has the power under the hood, but without making everyone think I am some street racer geek.

Ive got an new STi and its quite dissappointing compared to the last generation, especially with the shitty OEM Dunlops. They definately need sway bars before any kind of fun can be had.
But to answer your question about insurance, not sure about the rates in the U.S, but in canada, the rates for Subaru's are as high as BMW's and going from the RS to either of the turbo models makes for much higher rates.

Congrats!! Insurance is ridiculous on those. I had an 04 and my insurance more than doubled for the year.
Sounds like you have subie experience and if you haven't checked out cobb.com's forums. Go there before you do anything to the ride. If you already knew that I apologize but just wanna make sure you get the right info.
Enjoy

You should've taken the STI badge off and insured it as a regular WRX. If shit happened and they came down on you, tell em you don't know anything about cars and did not know there was a difference. Thats what I would've done. Then again I am shady with everything that I do.
