Yeah, Pantera were the business and so were NIN. Megadeath and Rollins Band deserve a mention. 90's was the music I really grew up with, some early 80's stuff. Early 2000's was okay and today is garbage with the exceptions of bands like Mastadon. How is it bands like Chille Peppers, Megadeth and Deftones entered the 2000's and turned to shit?

That's pretty cool you live near Trent Reznor. Have you ever met the guy?

The problem with modern music is literally computer technology.

Back in the day music was made with *expensive and oversized analog equipment, so, if you wanted to make music, you knew you needed to actually be good at it BEFORE you started making and releasing tracks.

Now, thanks to technology, everyone can pirate a DAW (digital audio workstation) and make their own so called "music" on a computer with very little equipment like just a midi keyboard and mic.
The problem that naturally follows is an over abundance of low quality music produced by wannabe musicians who have very little formal training or experience.

Because theres now more bait in the water (more people with access to music production resources) all these fly by labels are made to compensate, and the labels cant decipher an "accidental" decent track produced by an amature vs the avg track made by a true pro.

The label then signs the amature, the amature then floods the market with more crappy music cause they got signed on a wim by literally just another amature.

So this is just my opinion, but music to me sounds better the farther back it goes from today, all the way to beethoven. That mfkr had no mixing boards, he didn't even play the shit, he sat down and wrote masterpieces.
And when I say "sounds better" let me rephrase that more specifically.

In the mozart era, there might be 5 new songs, and only 1 was good.
In the modern era, it might take like 5000 new songs to find 1 good one.
Population increases can affect this but I still put the blame on technology.

Spaceships are beautiful like music but you don't see us handing over that technology to avg folk, cause we haven't evolved to that point yet. But trust and believe if any idiot can build a rocket ship for $25 to launch into space with at ANY point in the future, that will also be the same year the world as a whole comes to an end.
