Ah to live in a country you didn't have to, prove you have the permission of a land owner to shoot on their land, have a rifle of a small caliber (used to be illegal to have a rifle over .22 250 but you can now get .300+ but nothing as big as .400) have only a limited quantity of ammo( you start out with an allowance of 25 rounds depending on where you live or the officer signing your licence form, but can get up to about 100 rounds if you have it for a while without incident). You also MUST but a gun safe, no argument, no exception, no gun safe no gun.Handguns have only become legal to have here in the last 3-5 years and are very difficult to get a licence for.

    Wow that's really sad.

I don't know if there's even a cap on how large of a caliber weapon you can own in America. I want to get an .80 caliber musket like the ones the the founders used.

As far as the gun safe thing goes, I don't think it should be a requirement, but I think buying one is the responsible thing to do. That's why I have two

Agreed. I just picked up a new one a couple weeks ago. Friggin sweet. Looks just like an alarm clock/phone. Code is entered by the number pad. Voila! out pops drawer with pistol. Genius

If you are ever robbed or your family is attacked by some scumbags, ask yourself that question again.

Owning a firearm is one thing, crying because you are in risk of losing the right to own your AK-47 assault rifle is another.

Not to be a smart ass bro, but ya need to open your eyes of what's going on in america today. The future of freedom on all aspects is in jeopardy. Once they take the guns so we can't defend ourselves the sh*t is really gonna hit the fan.

    Ahem...

For accuracy's sake, I'd like to point out that "assault rifles" aka fully-automatic medium caliber rifles have been heavily regulated since 1934... it's damn near impossible to buy one as they cost over $5,000 each. You also have to get extensive background checks from the ATF, if you live in a state where they're allowed. These are commonly referred to as "machine guns".

What you're referring to is the military STYLE semi-automatic rifles that are not "machine guns". They fire once per pull of the trigger, just like handguns, just like many common hunting rifles. But they look scary.

The second amendment protects the rest of the bill of rights. The government should be afraid of the people, the people should not be afraid of the government. Think of it as a "plan B", just as our founding fathers USED their guns to break free of a tyrannical government. Many people forget that America is FREE because of private ownership of guns.

The second amendment is not about hunting, it's not even about self defense. It's about killing people.

I agree 100%. Hitler instituted gun control before the really nasty things started happening. Would the holocaust have happened if people were able to resist and defend themselves?

Gun control is not about guns. It's about CONTROL.

So you think that a semi-automatic is less dangerous than a "fully automatic assault rifle"? I'm not familiar with the process of buying them since I'm from California, but I'd bet they can be purchased for much less than $5,000.

I think we should just create serious Gun laws and get it over with. These laws will definately stop all those people who don't follow the laws and go around shooting people with AK-47's and Pistols. Its just crazy and we gotta do something. I say take Guns completely away, that will go a long way in bringing crime down.

I just pray to see that day. God Bless America!

It's pretty easy to get a gun here in Canada, but the majority of our murders and assults commited with a firearm, are from someone who did not purchase that firearm legally. If a gang member wants to get a handgun, they don't get a licence and a background check... they get one on the black market. So even if all guns are banned, the black market will still supply firearms to criminals.

Yes, but then Dennis Rodman comes from the past and opens up a can of whop-ass and since there is no guns we'll have to unthaw Stallone.

Sure, then make the punishment for illegally carrying a firearm severe. If one would get sentenced to 10 years in prison for carrying a gun, I would bet the number of shootings would fall dramatically.
