Terminator Salvation
damn i just wrote a big spiel on terminator salvation after seeing it last night but i went to post it, and the internet f*cked itself so i lost it.
but the gist is i bloody loved the new movie and couldn't believe it copped such a bagging on this forum when it came out in the U.S last week. Did we see the same movie here in Aus??? Lol it was f*ckin awesome!!!

I totally agree mate. All ive heard/seen is internet nerd rage about T4 and how crap it is and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. My heart sank. I went to watch it last Wednesday and really enjoyed it. The Terminators look ultra realistic in this one, and even "Arnie" in this is still awesome.
4 out of 5 for me.

I would be with you on the 4 out of 5. for me it came close to the original terminators in terms of enjoyability and drawing you into the story. don't get me wrong its not really in the same vein as the first two movies, has a different feel but in a good way. after all it is set post judgement day where it is a world where machines rule as opposed to the first movies where it was terminators infiltrating the human world. i thought all the tie ins to the original movies were awesum especially the whole thing with kyle reece.
I don't really like sam worthington normally but he was brilliant as marcus wright in this movie(we see sam worthington in quite a few aus films over here)Last edited by dezza6969; 06-05-2009 at 04:29 AM.

Yeah, Worthington was awesome as Marcus and apparantly James Cameron personally recommended Worthington for the part. They tied in all three films nicely through Kyle Reece, Katherine Brewster, Sarah on tape and it was cool when he busted out his old tape player with Guns'n'Roses! I look forward to the next two.

The movie was not very good. Christian Bale/John Connor wasn't even the main character!!! WTF? This series, after part 1, is supposed to be all about John Connor, but he wasn't even the main character in this movie, it was that other dude that didn't know if he was human or not.

actually that is the one thing i did find a little strange.

i don't think it was out of place. in terminator 2 half the movie was very multi-character driven as we follow sarah, john and arnie seperately until they unite. we're even split further with excerpts of T-1000's journey as he tries to hunt down john connor. In T-1 we're split between sarah connor, kyle reece and arnie, until sarah and kyle link up about a third to a little under half-way thru the movie. T1 could be said to be split between the protagonists(sarah and kyle) and the terminator with each getting similar screen time. In T4 we follow john connor, kyle reece and marcus wright. marcus wright is effectively the terminator of interest here so the fact that he gets equal screen time with the protagonist of this movie is no deviation from any of the other movies.

it was pretty crappy imo,, if you just like action and shite,, yea youll enjoy it. I need more than special effects to enjoy a movie though.

the movie drew me into the characters journey irrespective of the action. thats what most movies fail to achieve. this is all i could think of when you say you want 'more' in a movie. unless you also want a lesson in thermodynamics or quantum physics to come with your movie

oh, and I think a lot of negative comments were posted on openning weekend by the Star Trek crowd so that it would inflate their numbers.

I thought it was a pretty good movie, The story was good, the action was great and when the original terminator made an appearance I was livid...If you didnt like it well then I pray for your soul....(joke)

I didn't care for the movie. I found it confusing, but maybe that's because I didn't see the 3rd one, plus I thought the ending was stupid the way they gave John Connor the heart transplant as if it were some simple procedure like giving someone stitches

I liked it a lot, person I saw with thought it sucked. I really like how it was shot and the effects and the backgrounds and shit, cool stuff. Plot was a bit weak but whatever, overall it was pretty sick.
I wasn't sold on it till the gigantic naked computer generated Arnold came into play, that's what got me.

i thought that shit with her eyes was some kind of american indian tradition for going to war cuz she only had it on around combat situations. the heart transplant was a bit weak, and the cg arnie had the facial expressions of a gorilla as well as looking very plastic, but it didn't really take much away from the movie for me. it was still f*ckin awesome
