Looking forward to the most improved comp results and final pics.

Went and picked out fabrics and got fitted for a suit today. Being 'hard to fit' may mean spending more to get into a nice suit, but when one is custom made for you it's always perfect!

Unfortunately my first choice of fabric was out of stock, a subtle grey plaid. So, a deep medium blue with a paisley burgundy silk liner was the second choice.
I'm tempted to buy more nice clothes but who knows how long they'll fit for. The suit I'm getting made right now probably won't fit by the end of the year but I need to have at least one nice suit around... after all, I am getting married in it!
The wife and I did a simple courthouse wedding a couple years ago. We're doing it up in a couple months with an actual event, reception, and honeymoon.

Buy a really nice one that can be re-tailored a couple times over as you change in size and composition. Buy a cheap one with glued lining and you'll pay just as much in the end since you have to replace the whole damn ensemble every time you make a little leap in progress.
Still, you'll probably eventually have to replace altogether as adjustments can only go so far.
I should do a thread on buying jackets, suits and stuff for athletic body types.Last edited by Ernst; 04-10-2018 at 12:06 AM.

I kind of wanted a 3 piece but the tailor said a vest, while possible, wasn't going to be easy with my body type and I was better off keeping it simple.
When I had to dress up for work every day I wore a lot of vests. Cheaper, cooler, and variations in my size were less of an issue than with a fitted jacket. Admittedly vests do not have the fit and refinement that a jacket brings, even though I always wore a good tie and shirt combo with them. Brooks Brothers has some nice vests they sell as separates and they change up the selection relatively often.

I've been itching to get a new pistol.
Love a Sig P232 but they've been discontinued and are tough to find and a downright PITA to get mags for.
Love a Springfield 1911 Professional but I am not made of money.
I think a Glock 20 SF just might be the ticket. Ammo is a bit pricey but I already have lots of trigger time on my G19 and won't have to re-learn anything, it's more or less just a scaled-up version of the same gun. It'll still be cheaper than the others, even after I throw on some good Trijicon sights.
Ragin, you're from a free state, surely you can weigh in on my firearms dilemma and help me decide....

I'm in Kommiefornia. We usually pay at least MSRP for anything firearms.
The pistol also has to be on the State's DOJ approved roster, or else the only way to get one is through private party transfer.
VP9's are actually pretty available and going for about $1k through PPT right now. HK brought a bunch of them into the state before the single shot exemption loophole was closed. We used to be able to buy whatever with no mags and claim it was a single shot pistol...
The Glock 20 SF gen 3 is still sitting on the roster and I can get one through my local shop.

A Glock 43 goes for $900-$1200 here.

I hate it here.
I'm a libertarian-leaning Republican who gives $ to Rand Paul.
We're stuck here because of my wife's career.

It looks crazy over there, bunch of whiners.
So you are an independent, like myself. Wish we would get rid of the two party system, but not sure that will ever happen with the two sides sitting on the extreme ends.
I need a sugar momma like that, haha, congrats!
I need to get another pistol as well, one with a threaded barrel. Not sure in i want another 9, .40, or get a .45. Don’t have one of those hand cannons in my arsenal

You have no idea how bad it is. At this point I'm pretty sure you could come here illegally, shoot a cop with a stolen gun while high on bath salts, and they'd blame the gun (and probably the cop) and you'd walk free with a voucher for taxpayer-funded rehab.
Still, people both here and afar tend to forget that about 1 in 3 Californians are actually NOT democrats-- we're just completely overwhelmed and unrepresented.
I'm very proud of the wife. She has kicked ass and is near the top of the pyramid in a very competitive and tough business. She makes a lot more dough than I do now.
If I'm off work tomorrow I'm going to the gun shop to start the 10-day wait for a G20 limited to 10 rounds.
Oh, and you can't have a threaded barrel on a handgun here or it is automatically a felony assault weapon!
-
04-18-2018, 10:12 AM #104228
Holy hell! How does a threaded barrel make it an assault weapon? Fucking media made that term up. When someone asks me about that, I ask them to define assault. Any weapon can be determined to be an assault weapon, if one does harm with it. A fucking stick can be an assault weapon.
Your wife sounds badass!
And good luck with that gun getting, down here, can probably get one in about 15-20 minutes.
I just received my first suppressor finally, need to go shoot it to see how it works!

I wonder if we will see another civil war or at least state secession in our lifetimes. I can see it as a real possibility.
That, and I just watched the original 'Red Dawn' again last night so I guess I'm feeling a little punchy from it.

Trying to find a gym in Vienna that's just a shithole with weights where they'll let me pay by the day.
All these like fitness studio type places with fancy machines and rock climbing walls, stairmasters, saunas, and aerobics classes
OOhhhh... this one has a pic of a guy throwing up on the main page. You know he just had a shitty leg day. I think I may have found my gym. They specialize in powerlifting and bodybuilding. And they have a daypass for 19 euros. Cheaper to buy a month for the two weeks I'll be there. :/

damn, anyway you get back to being a gigolo?
i had a pretty shitty Friday and Saturday night
spent 4 fucking hours in the Apple Store, only to leave with a new phone that i had to bring back today because the speaker didn't work. 2 more hours there, FML
Saturday, had a great day until i got home that night. not sure if it was something i ate or a bug, but i threw my guts out the entire night and Sunday morning. i barely got a smoothie down on Sunday, felt like dog ass.

Weekend of suckitude all around.
I used to buy Apple products.... then I realized they don't stand behind their product for shyt. My new iPhone 5 toasted from being in the front pocket of my shorts at the gym. They called it 'water damage' and refused to repair. It was ball sweat lol. I got a Samsung Galaxy and have never looked back. Now on my 3rd(?) Galaxy and they have served me well.
Ah yes, food poisoning... nature's cutting diet. Time to hop on the scale and set a benchmark.
No Glock 20's were around. I actually ended up buying a S&W snubby (sans Hillary hole). Our recent move has landed us in a part of Cali where CCW's are rare, but do exist. Might as well take a crack at it. I like a pocket revolver and I am one of the rare people who enjoy shooting them and don't suck at it.
