My dog Bit a cat
my dog is totally nice and awesome and actually doesnt fvck with cats if they dont run off, which they usually do.
anyways at about 5 A.M my mom woke up and i heard her yelling at my dog, i ran outside and i thought he was fighting with a racoon till i realized he had been playin with (Biting and Shaking) a cat, i was kinda bummed cuz i do like cats. cat was pretty messed up, i got my dog back inside cleaned him off. the cat looked jacked up dunno if it could walk. but when i looked back down where it was outside it was gone.
Im in Cali.
Wanted to know if anyone knows the law on this.
Cat was in my yard, which is completely fenced in. so this was on my property and the cat was unlawfully on my property at 5 A.M and was not invited so was therefore trespassing.
I am a little bummed but wanna know if anyone is familiar with the law?
thanks
here my doggy

I wouldn't worry about it. If the cat is even owned by someone, and it's not just a street cat, theres no way to prove that your dog did it. And even then, in most states it doesn't become a legal issue unless there was a blatant attack resulting in the death of an animal. It's not like your dog was out predatoring around the neighborhood looking for cats to take down. I had a similar issue with a dog that came into my yard, to which my dog didn't take kindly. Nothing ended up happening except that Animal Control came to make sure I didn't have an APBT. Apparently whoever owned the dog that got handled called and said my Bull Terrier was an APBT.

According to another thread on dogs it's ALL the owners fault. Nothing to do with genetics or breading.

Man.... u just don't quit.
If a mouse ran past a cat.... what do you think the cat would do? Attack the mouse.....
Dogs generally hate cats and other critters..... but CAN be taught to like them.
A dog going after a cat in his territory has nothing to do with the owner training it to attack. The debate you are referring to is about dog fighting and the owners training their dogs to kill....
completely different....

My dog ate my sisters buggie 2 years ago. Had to ring the vet and ask if he could digest it ok!
My other jack russell wants to eat my sisters rabbit. He circles the cage for hours working out how to get in.
The jack russell (Milo) that ate the buggie wants the ginuea pig now. Does the same as above but he knawed at the cage day to get in.

so woke up and the car was no where to be found in my yard.
dunno how the cat is though, Roman was tossing him around like his toy.
cat looked like it had broken legs last night it was like limp i wonder if this cat was playin possum.
Mom was all upset, i said its not his fault its his predator prey drive. and it is no different the our old cats that used to bring in dead rats, lizards,or birds.
besides Roman is a Purty Boy...Yes he is....yaaa....Hesa good boy!! he dont like them kee-keys in the yard does he....no...no he doesnt....he likes to chew on them kitty's ya cuz they's fun to play with...yes there are...ahhhh.....

Yeah here in Miami-Dade County we have a ban on American Pit Bull Terriers. They tried to introduce a bill banning over 70 other breeds, but some people (myself included) wrote a lot of fkin letters and it didn't get passed. The ban is ridiculous, as I still see plenty of APBTs around. All it means is that they could legally put the dog down, which is horrendous to me especially when the dog hasn't done anything other than exist. I'd love to have one myself, I watched a friend's pair of blue-nosed APBTs for a week and they were awesome. I just don't know what I'd do if the county came and killed my dog, there'd definitely be violence involved.

he is in fact no mut he is a Pure Bread, Western Highland Terrier.
ya dogs that are beaten and neglected will become more violent just like abused kids become bullies.
there should be no ban on any dog, maybe prosecution of the owners though

Agreed, it's genetics same as when they attack someone sometimes because it's NOT training but just in-bread and has nothing to do with the teaching, it happens. There are many cases of good dogs who have mauled kids/babbies.
BTW I have had dogs, cats and many other animals. Im 46 so I'm not a punk kid who doesnt have a clue. It's just my perspective.

Your fine bro. As long as he didnt attack a person it is ok. My girlfriends dad has a bull mastiff that literally ate there neighbors cat in the front yard and all they did was test the dog for rabies and then released it back to him. This is Texas though lol.

cute dog you have!! hopefully you dont get in trouble.. it seems to me, thy can't do much to your dog. since your yard is fenced and the cat came into your yard.

Yeah i had a bull terrier ... he got a lil vicious. He died early of kidney failure, but he jumped a 7 foot fence crawled over to get into my neighbors yard(which has no fence) because there was 2 cable guys out there.. they reached down to pet him, and he bit the crap out of em. Got maced twice, nothing ever came from it... and this is Texas God bless Texas. I told the guys to not aggravate my dog, but i guess they where too close to his territory. RIP deuce.
Now I have a nice sweet pit bull, saved her. Best dog ever!!!
