Going to be hard to break into the really high quality handguns for $300-$500. Your best bet at that price range is a Glock 26/27, depending on your preference of caliber.

    i 100% agree with you !!!

The Smith and WESSON .38 Special Airweight Snub Nose !!

    Great FIREARM !!

    Or...

    Quality.. Hmmm...

Smith and Wesson SIGMA 9MM/.40caL brand NEW these GUNS are HIGH CAPACITY and RELIABLE... Hard Trigger PULL is the ONLY DOWNSIDE... And only run approx 350bucks... can't really beat it...

So take your pick.. Auto or Revolver... but stick with S&W in that PRICE RANGE...

If you are talking the 700-1000 Range I would say a AWESOME Version of the 1911... The BEST Handgun ever INVENTED...

Those are NOT STOCK and go for about 2200 a PIECE... worth every PENNY though.. nothing more reliable when your life is at stake !!

In that price range, I'd say Glock. 9mm<.40<.45 as far as stopping power. You can get a new G30 (subcompact .45) for just over $500.00, and less if it's used.

Your gonna get alot of people's "opinions" on here. But the XD is a good quality gun for a lower price. Personally I think glocks are to square to conceal for my taste.

yeah true. everyone has their "gun".

The XDs seem very reliable and nice. Nothing but good reviews so far.

Glocks seem highly rated, but I also read a bunch of bad reviews with them.

From what I can gather, and there are tons of opinions and info, for that around about 500 range, SA and SIG are the way to go.

Im just looking for a nice, semi cheap, quality, reliable gun for CC. No long distance shooting...just up close and personal, so I suppose accuracy doesn't have to be spot on.

Keltec P3AT 380, $300 out the door easy conceal and goes bang everytime
Its not a target pistol its a up close and personal, dont get a wheel gun cause there annoying to carry cause to thick, and glocks are to bulky to carry iwb, those are more of keepem in your car guns,98% of Cops carry keltecs as back ups, Your concealed gun is not to win a shooting match or blow the guys arm off its to STOP THE THREAT TO GET AWAY,

what did you read bad about a glock? glock is the ak of handguns, and if anything breaks its super cheap to fix, the XD trigger has alot of reviews of breaking

Get a Kel-tec P3AT, youll forget its even there

keltec is NOT good. It is one of the higher ratings for accidental self shootings due to poor design.

its the same as a wheel gun or glock, you pull the trigger its going bang, you have to get a good holster that protects the trigger,

Wheel Gun's are One of the BEST choices... 1) They HOUSE the shell in case you shoot someone and they don't die, the casing isn't ejected so you can give it to the L.E.O.'s to identify the round in the PERP... 2) Never a MISFEAD, JAM, or FTF... 3) You can't accidentally hit the CLIP drop button and DROP you rounds on the ground in a possible Scuffle... 4) THEY Make a NOTICEABLY LOUDER BANG ... That BANG usually will scare away any PERP... Most of the time you don't even need to hit them.. the sound of a ROUND is enough to make someone RUN... (i.e. - .38special.. DOUBLE the Bang than a .380 or 9mm .. .44Mag 3-4 times as loud as a .45 ACP... .500s&w THE LOUDEST HANDUN ROUND... Makes the SOUND of a .50AE sound like a PEA SHOOTER... For Real Though)

That's the REASON why they are always SOLD out because the GENERAL PUBLIC sees a "CHEAPLY PRICED" Firearm and thinks.. HEY I CAN AFFORD THAT... Not knowing that they are buying a POS...

I would NEVER entrust my life to something of that NATURE...

Shoulder or Ankle Holsters... Or even FVCK Concealed Carry.. I OPEN CARRY on My Hip.. Like a Police Officer On Duty.. yah.. I LET PEOPLE KNOW.. HEY FVCKERS I HAVE A FIREARM.. Threaten ME or MY FAMILY'S Well Being and I will SEND you to whatever GOD you wish...

AND... The WHEEL GUN I noted up above.. The S&W Airweight would need no absolute PANT SIZE CHANGE.. It's very slim, SLIMMER than a GLOCK...

Yeah there is no way you live in a big city. If you tried doing that on the west coast you would probably get harassed about every 10 mins by the authorities even though you are doing something 100% legal.

John Moses Browning's 1911. hands down.

I'm with Deuce on that one.

You can't put a price on personal protection of one's life.

Now, I'm not saying to go out and buy a Les Baer, Wilson Cobat, STI, Novak, ect...

    But , there are options.

Smith & Wesson's just do not jam.

No matter what you feed through it.

    Taurus makes a great 1911 for $700.00.

Best bang for the buck going right now in the 1911 market.

I would say, Invest in a S&W 1911 with a scandium frame for carry.

    Commander size, (4 inch barrel).

That's if you are weight conscience.

I like a full steel frame, Full size, 1911.

Para ordnance is another fantastic firearm company.

Alot of them under $1000.00 mark easy.

Now, you have a choice of calibers on this.

    45/40/38/9mm.

    Para makes them all.

I would say for this particular application, probably a 40 cal S&W.

Nothing more than a shortened 10mm cartridge.

I like the ballistics of that cartridge.

    I carry a .45 single stack.

That's what I learned on and trained with in the Core.

I think the .40 actually has more kick than the .45.IMO.

Do some web surfing on some of these company's.

And do not let prices scare you.

That's what our government does, and it seems to do it well.

    Best

    T

I will chime in here.... There is no "Do-Everything" firearm. What experience do you have with shooting? Are you new and inexperienced? If so then a full size gun is the only way to go. You will want a 9mm full size gun for sure. As you get more experience you can buy more guns that get smaller etc. The Glock is a decent choice in your price range. I HATE Glocks myself but they are good guns. Why do I hate them you ask? The grip angle is terrible, the triggers leave a ton to be desired (although, can easily be fixed but will still never be IDEAL) not the greatest ergonomics and the grip shape is too much of a block.

I am a big fan of the S&W M&P. They come in many sizes and the Sub-compact is a great carry gun but again if you don't have a lot of experience I suggest getting a full size gun to learn with.

I'm a master level USPSA (competitive) pistol shooter and I have a TON or experience with training people, shooting, and guns in general. If you want more specifics just ask and I will be glad to help out.

I see people every single week that come to my shooting practices and they carry every day yet can't hit a target when under pressure of just a clock if their lives depended on it. This is a false sense of security.

Most of the carry guns you guys are referring to I own.

My main carry gun is a Kimber CDP II Ultra sub-compact 1911. As stated earlier the 1911 is THE BEST firearm.

I have a Ruger LCP- it's tiny and easy to conceal for sure but if you are not experienced with shooting avoid this gun. It's difficult to shoot and will cause you to learn a TON of bad habbits.

S&W Airweight Revolver- I have a couple of these one M&P with lazer grips. It's an easily concealed gun and great for pocket carry but again it sucks to shoot. The sights are almost non-existent on this gun and the recoil is pretty intense esp. for a newer shooter. It will always go bang and never jam so that's a plus.

M&P Compact- This is a great gun but a little harder to conceal because it's bigger than the other guns mentioned above except for the Kimber. It's not a pocket carry gun and it's a bit wider but it does have more ammo on tap than the others.

Glock 26 or 27- I've had both but got rid of them because I don't like Glocks. They are reliable for sure but just not for ME. One of the shooters I've been training shoots Glocks and I give him crap all the time but they work for HIM.

I have an XD40 right now. Springfield Makes an "XDM" now that is TOP of the Line. Check it out. may have to spend an xtra $150-200 depending on what you want. Also another fine piece is the Beretta PX4, also made in a sub-compact model. I have just purchased the storm. I do however love the XD40 (hints my sn*) and it is a very reasonable priced gun. Plus they are made 30mins away from where I live.

cops carry keltecs as back ups not rugers, my boy owns a ruger and that thing jams atleast 3 times each range trip, ive put over 1,000 rds threw my 380 and not 1 jam, i trust it,

Rule of thumb is a 2second draw, you arnt doing thats with those holsters
In The Waist Band IWB is t he way to go, Comp-tac has a great quick draw holster that protects the trigger

    Bond Arms in 410/45 colt

picked one up, even the wife likes it.. 18oz loaded.. remember its a defensive weapon, if the person is not within 20 ft they are not a threat..

the 410 was a blast to shoot and very controllable with 000 buck shot..
