Move to Texas..so many Mexicans running around you would be fluent in their shitty version of "Spanish" in a few months.

From a psychological perspective there would only be two suitable options:
1.) immerse yourself in the language. (this will be the fastest way to pick it up)
2.) semi-immersion (prolonged way of retaining language.)
Unfortunately as we age our language acquisition skills decrease an an exponential rate. The sad truth is that a 6 year old child can pick up any language significantly quicker then a grown man. weird hey? lol.
There is some software that are good options.. for this method, it really depends on the particular language though...

To hell with with Bolshevik language, try German but it is far from an easy language to learn. If the pronunciation doesn't get you, the structuring of verbs etc will blow your mind. German does not have the same rules as English, you can continue to speak and speak and speak without stopping whereas in English we have stopping points. I probably didn't explain that well but i'm no teacher.
This will help you

Listen to this, this will at least give you an idea how German speakers will respond to you. Watch 1-11***No source checks!!!***

I think working through a text like that is a far superior way of learning a language than Rosetta Stone or any similar software.

Roseta Stone, wasnt that the name of a shitty film in the 80's that Michael Douglas was in?
I would say living in the country whose native language you want to learn helps. Or speak to someone who is fluent in said language or failing that, get those tapes.
