Is it just me......
Or is everybody here really a professional MMA figter?
It seems like this place gets new professional MMA fighters daily. Now I do believe that there are some guys here that train (thousands of members), but it sseems like every guy that comes to this site asking for advice is a MMA fighter.
Maybe that is Chuck Liddel asking for advice about the 6 week HGH kit lol

It's not just here, man. At my gym there must be 20 "mma fighters"..funny thing is they all have perfect faces. Go figure.

LOL... Yeah I know.... with perfect ears too. The funny thing is..... when I see a guy with "cauliflowered" ears at the gym, he is doing moderate weight training, and lifting consertively.
Then I see guys that weigh 145lbs at 6' shadow boxing in the mirror wearing wrist wraps and wearing a tap out shirt. They go to the gym just to shadowbox in the mirror

LOL...funny you mention that. When the branch of my gym opened near my house about 4 years ago, I started going and some kid there saw my ATAMA bag (I used to practice BJJ and Judo) and started ranting and raving about UFC. I would kind of just shrug him off or nod my head...and then one day he said he's starting to train and he will be in UFC in 2 years.
Couple months later I saw him and asked when I can see him on pay per view. He told me he can't because he hurt his wrist, so he quit training. LMAO.
I also overheard this kid recently (must be 20 yrs at the oldest) saying how he can't start another cycle because every time he starts it starts to hurt after the 3rd shot and he has to quit.
Ridiculous.

What is that bar on Duval St that sells those frozen drinks on tap? I think it has to do with a monkey though. It is an outdoor bar. They have these slushy-like dispensors with alcohol drinks. I had a few Ruby-Roos there and got blitzed. Just trying to tell a buddy of mine where to go

Everyone trains in MMA now so everybody thinks they are an MMA fighter.
Ive trained in martial arts since I was 7.
After 5 years off I joined an MMA gym.(it was a very good one with alot of tough looking guys) No Joke, I dominated 95% of them. I stopped going because there are just too many f*ck heads coming into the sport now and it has lost the respectfulness that it once Had.
Anyone who used to watch pride from Japan will understaND.
UFC fans are stupid ass weiners.

I trained bjj before it and mma got real big. Not because I wanted to be a fighter but because it was a awesome workout and was fun. I pretty muched stopped because every week a whole slew of newbs would come in. After a couple of popped out shoulders and sprained knee from guys with no technique or idea of how to just roll to work on getting better I said the hell with it. I think eventually it will die down I hope.

I stopped going after year, lol. I wasnt backing out on my contract
I fought in 2 MMA fights. Won both by submission. (traveled from toronto to ohio to fight in both)
Just didn't like the crowd of people that keep getting attracted to the sport. Dont like the direction its going.
The gym was full of some serious competitors. Who were also teachers.
Dont over analyize threads there war machiene.

^ Im not analyzing the thread, just your claim that you dominated 95% of the people there with less than a years training. And that they were "serious competitors".
Sounds like either that guy had sub-par instructors, or your exaggerating.

Lol,
Not that he's the best anymore but carlos newton was a teacher.
I have trained with george saint pierre, coture went out partying with BJ Penn on more then one occassion/
Only thing is I am not going to go pro. MMA caused me to contstantly battle with injuries in gym and in classes. So I made my decision.
and I said I had not trained in 5 years. before joining mma gym for 1.

So youre in Canada. Carlos Newton is a interesting fighter. Very unorthodox fighter. Ive seen him fight in person in Japan, when he beat Pele. I dont remember what event, but it was like 02?
Youre saying you dominated him? His grappling is good, but again unorthodox. His striking was never good.
I dont know why youd quit if you were doing so well huh?

HAHAHA..
I wish, I said 95%
he was in the 5% that dominated me. not to say we didnt have a couple good rolls.
If you went to Japan and you remember the crowd and the atmosphere, You will never have that in North America

well i took my membership which was around $800 per year.
And did a cycle instead. Maybe one day Ill get back into it. Like I said I just honestly lost my love for the sport.
With MMA im either all in and dedicated 100% or all out.
Im all out right now;

800 a year? Thats so fvckin cheap. Geez... Minimum for quality Academies these days is 125-150, which is about 1800 a year.
-
03-12-2010, 09:54 PM #33
thats alot.
THey normally charge $1200 a year here. It is a rather big facility and there always 3 classes running similtaniously every 45 min.
If this place was charging $1800 US a person a year. They would make over 2 Mil a year.
Thats crazy
-
03-12-2010, 09:58 PM #34
No way a gym has 1000 people training. Thats absurd. You couldnt even build a facility big enough.
The old place i was teaching out of, we had 250 students, and it was ridiculous. 50 people to a class. 5 BBs instructing. No way your old place had 1000 people, no way...

well yea maybe thats alot. come to think about it
THere are lots though.
And you have to consider those who sign up, pay and never return

You guys need to settle this on some UFC Undisputed!
-

Im sure they have over 150 students. Most Academies do.
Was Carlos still belting people? There was some shit with him and a lot of other Brazilians about belting people. He had made up his own kind of style of Jiu Jitsu.
-
03-12-2010, 10:14 PM #38
He has his own method of ju-jitsiu Dragon or something that he trains in. Hes not at the gym every single week but is there a fair bit . last time I spoke to him which was about 6 months ago, he was looking to make a small comeback. Im not sure if anything ever amounted from it.
He is a bit strange to be quite honest. I think he honestly thinks hes goku from DBZ.
He was not belting anyone though
-
03-12-2010, 10:21 PM #39
actually I just checked, It was dragon ball ju jitsu
He believes alot in inner strength and channeling your power
I never paid much attention to that though

Thats good. I heard he was at some point. And thats when he came up with this Dragon JuJitsu.
Hes a decent fighter. Probably not going to do much these days.
