Any Audi TT drivers here?
I'm considering a used TT, I've always liked these and I have some cash laying around. I still have uber-vette and my bikes, but this would be something to take to the grocery store on occasions and just cruise around a little. I just like the styling. Any first-hand pros or cons?

I dont, but they sure are good looking.

Have driven both the coupe and convertible but they were the last generation. ...convertible was crap, don't think of them as a sports car and you may like them more.
New models look sweeeet.Last edited by terraj; 04-08-2010 at 01:16 AM.

I had one in 2000, I lasted 2 yrs in it and had to sell it due to me struggling to get in it, very small and my kids couldnt get in the back to no feet space! other than that great car to have some fun in.

My dad had a first gen one.
Pros:
excellent quality all around, the interior is the best I've seen, the car sounds like a tank when you close the door
Cons:
the 2.0L turbo still doesn't have any real power
overall, I think it's a good quality car

Let me tell you something man, you dont want an Audi unless your ready to drop TONS AND TONS of $$$ on servicing it. The cars are very stylish and nice but wait until you need something done to it. You'll be begging someone to buy that shit off your hands. Like when you have to drop the car off and leave it for 3 days to get a headlight changed b/ they need to take the whole front end off the ****ing car to do it. Or when you need to get the "special service" done once every 4 oil changes on the turbo A models that runs you about $1000 each time. My friend has owned 2 Audi's, an A-6 and A-8, both constantly in the shop!! That A-8 is a pain in the ****ing ass!! Something is constantly wrong with it, he's been without the car more than he's had it the past year. Every other week he's dropping that thing off, says its the biggest piece of shit he's ever owned, so much for 90k well spent. I could spend half the money on a Honda S-2000 that would bury a TT and cost me half the upkeep

I like the look of the TT. I like almost all of the VAGCOM vehicle lines but Im not really a convertible guys myself. I heard a while back that VW was bringing a two seater like the TT to the US with a 2.0 TDI in it. I will buy one if its TDI!!
As for maintaining it, it will depend on how much you can do yourself. I have had a few that I have done all the service on except I won't do the 100k timing belt change on the TDI. I am not a mechanic.Last edited by matt77; 04-08-2010 at 06:47 AM.

I would get the Nissan 350z over the TT with similar looks and more power.

they're sick big
I've had two friends who own them
get it in convertible
they're pretty cheap for what you get
only drawback is seating
you're a tall dude so I would try sitting in one before you buy

350z is a dog
but depending on what year he's going with a boxter is an awesome option
I don't think it's a lady's sports car at all man, they're fast as hell

more power for your dollar and a back seat, that's why
plus the mustang legacy buyers, rednecks, and baby boomers that remember their sweet ride from when they were young.
370 is not a bad car, but if you've already got a vette (like big does have more than one) and ride sport bikes...it's really not going to blow your hair back and make your socks roll up and down.

good points to consider all around, and fitting in it is an issue I hadn't considered. My primary vette has 525hp and 640lbs torque, so I wouldn't be getting the Audi for the "vroom", I just like the styling. I better test fit one first though.

I haven't picked one yet, I've been shopping cars.com and ebay, but before I go much further I need to find one in my area and see if I can even get in it.

Big changes in the second Gen TTs, according to my beloved BBC program (Top Gear)- "small changes making a big difference" was the wording I believe.

C'mon man you own Vettes! Do you neet a back seat? If not consider a c5z06. Incredible value.
If you're getting an Audi make sure you've got a warranty. I know 3 audi owners, big time electrical problems. Why not a Vauxhall VXr8 Bathurst? Too bad its not available in the USLast edited by F4iGuy; 04-09-2010 at 07:55 AM.

Ive been tooling around in a 2005 S4 for the past 3 years and I absolutely love it. 340hp, awd, plenty of room, auto for the wife, etc.
I've looked at the TT for the past few years and the car has really been growing on me lately but to replace it for what I currently have.....
I dont think so........

it breaks traction so easily even at speed that 1/4 mile times would not be very impressive, it doesn't hook up well enough for a decent launch and the suspension is set up more for autocrossing.
I want to be able to bring more than one of the kids with me at a time, so the back seat is one of the reasons for another car.
I love it
