I am supposed to be at the Apple store in the morning at 6:30am...if there is a massive line and its not moving, the Apple fags can go have it because i'm not standing around for a phone for hours.

well I got it charged, transferred all my contacts and set up my email and it seems great, if not for the fact that I can't keep a signal. We have 5 phones on my AT+T account, all of various makes, and setting right here in my room my kid's and wife's phones have 3 or 4 bars while my fancy new iPhone keeps going between 5 bars and none. I can't even seem to keep a signal long enough to browse the app store. right now I have no bars and can't connect and my daughter is setting across the room talking away on hers. I've made a few calls when the signal comes in and it is loud and clear, shame it won't stay that way.

I stood in line for 3hrs this morning and got mine. It is working great other than some minor issue with WIFI at work..I haven't been home yet to check it on my WAP at home.
This phone is badass and I love testing out the face time feature.***No source checks!!!***

no wifi here but I can pick up my neighbors. rebooted and seems better as in not dropping out, but I still show 1 or 2 bars less signal some times than my wife does on her cheap phone while sitting right next to me. old phone is off, but it was on when I activated this one, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

well the reviews show I'm not the only one with a signal issue, seems it's a common problem with the metal band antenna. my phone shows 5 bars laying on the table, then drops to 2 or less when I pick it up. Apple suggests holding the phone differently or ordering a case which should eliminate the problem. I suggest they should test stuff like this instead of making the consumers the beta-testers on such an expensive product.

yeah it doesn't seem to affect everyone, which is cool, but a quick search of "iphone signal" shows that far too many peeps are having my same problem. tomorrow I'll pick up a gel case at the AT+T store and see how that does, and hope the problem can be addressed in a software update, but it's quite frustrating on an item I waited for. I called my mom earlier this evening and the call dropped twice, and she lives about 5 miles from me. with my cheap Samsung phone I had right before the phone on the same account I never dropped a call. Right now the phone is showing 5 bars, I can pick it up and hold it like I would any other phone and within a minute it goes to "searching". sucks.

The problem is when the phone is directly held with the left hand covering the lower left of the phone. The problem is suppose to be there both the antennas meet.
Solution: Get a case. If its not directly held its fine.
I don't seen to have this problem but others say they do.

It may seem stupid but you can try one of these.
I have a bunch of these I bought years ago for friends and?? Believe it or not they work. I gave a bunch to a friend who has a cell phone booth at the mall a couple weeks ago. He put on on his apple when and before he only had 3 bars, after he had 5.
They are cheap.

I picked up a case today and that did the trick, full bars. On principal it sucks that I buy a $400 phone then have to buy a case to be able to use it.
