More Police incompetence
86 year old granny on oxygen was sick. Grandson calls 911 to get medical assistance. 10 policemen show up and promptly tase her, after which they step on her oxygen hose until she began to suffer oxygen deprivation. Their excuse?
===============
"He stated in his report that the 86 year-old plaintiff 'took a more aggressive posture in her bed,' and that he was fearful for his safety and the safety of others."
After tasing her, the police then grabbed Ms. Varner by her forearms and jerked hands together, causing her soft flesh to tear and bleed on her bed; they then handcuffed her.
The cops capped it all off by having his grandmother "placed in the psychiatric ward at the direction of the El Reno police; she was held there for six days and released."

I feel like after that cop tazed that kid in philly for running on the field, every cop is using the excuses, "We don't know how dangerous they really are..." as their reasoning for gettin the shock off.

This can't be. Come on, does this really take place in the good old USA? 10 cops, seriously?

when you call 911 for for medical assistance, the operator dispatches fire and medical units not 10 police.

sometimes i wonder if there are more sh!tty cops than good ones. My brothers friend in Vancouver got caught with a kilo of a very illegal substance and a bunch of cash years ago and they just took it away from him and told him to take a walk........that story is true so I wouldn't put it past a bunch of cops to taze an old lady...

They are just doing thier jobs protecting children from 86 year-old grannies.
It is part of thier SOP so that makes it right.
Law enforcement is short staffed and need more people and funding to do thier jobs effectively.
If I lived next door to that 86 year-old i would feel grateful and safer because there is great law enforcement officers keeping children safe.
She and her grand son must be both child molesters or something to that criminal effect. Regular Joe Citizen that has no run ins with LEO would never complain about thier loss of liberty.

We all probably have our own "cop" stories. My theory is that weak minded individuals that crave authority gravitate towards badges and guns. I have known several that fit this profile. I'll probably get sacked for saying that, but just from my own narrow viewpoint, it seems to be the case.

What kills me about everyone who bashes a cop and even this thread is that the second anythign happens, people call the cops. It makes me so mad because everyone points out the awful things done by only a few cops. No one ever remembers the cops that are killed in the line of dtuy protecting me, you, and everyone else in this country from the shitbags out there. You all hate on cops becuase of what you read. If any of you know a real cop out there then you know that they are good people like you and I. There are some bad ones out there who take money, abuse their power, and generally do awful things. Some take the power and abuse it, but you all only focus on the bad things they did. What about the cop who patrols the streets, cleaning them up and making sure you and I are safe from the piece of shit down teh street dealing drugs or the serial murderer.
You have people in all walks of life, in different jobs that abuse the power they are given. Some examples are, the Enron men, the BP board, the government, and worst of all, Obama. Everyone right away blames the cops the first moment they can and condemns them.
Roman is right in that they are many who gravitate toward the badge and are general scumbags. But there are also the good ones out there. Its easy to point and blame everyoen else. Put your feet in their shoes and see what they do. Until then, you dont see how its damn near impossible for them to do their job cuz of people who sue becuase a cop beat their ass for having a gun on them or doing something they shouldnt have. The bureaucrats have made it impossible for a cop to do their jobs.
Now what these cops did was wrong. I am not condoning what they did, but what you guys gotta realize is that this is only a small fraction of the police force nationwide. If you guys think that every cop is the same, then next time someone is breaking into your house to rob and kill you, remember how much you hate cops, and dont call them. Figure it out yourself.

I've never know anyone where a cop has helped them. I've had my house broken into, car stolen. Know what the cops do? take a report. thanks for the paperwork you are my hero.
40% of murders go unsolved according to FBI stats.
cops patrolling our streets for safety. hahahaha they are out there collecting money for tickets. most are glorified meter maids.
Yes there are some good ones. But they are the minority. Yes we read all the bad stuff cause thats whats in the papers. Do you even realise how much bad stuff cops do doesnt make the news?
if someone breaks into my house to kill me. I'm not relieing on some cop to save me

Look. Cops are NOT just regular citizens doing regular jobs. The game is rigged from the start. It is extremely problematic to carry, just try to get a CCW anywhere in cali that is not rural. Almost a zero chance. But the bad guys dont' care so they carry anyways. So that's strike one for joe six pack citizen. Next come the cops that do carry that are supposed to be the good guys. They've got their expensive cop cars and high salaries, but are they really doing the jobs they should be doing? I mean, c'mon! They bust regular citizens for doing the same crimes they commit. Speeding on the highway for one. 100% of all cops have broken the speed limit, yet they write tickets by the hundreds. Is this really what we need a high priced cop to be doing? Hassling us? Or about not wearing a DOT helmet? Or my pipes too loud? Yes, cops also provide a public service. That's why they take the paycheck. That doens't make them a "HERO". For gods sake!! To them, it's just a job. In my humble opinion, we have far too many cops, worrying about far too many "lesser crimes". Cops have morphed into something like revenue collectors with guns. Am I right? and finally, because of the unique position cops have, authority, guns and attitude, even if one in ten is bad, 10% is waaaaaaaaay too high. I say open it up, let us all carry, and let the bad guys beware. I doubt a bad guy would be giving me shit if he knew I was carrying. Then we wouldn't need so many cops, except for the really important stuff. As it is now, we are a society of sheep. And if you don't agree with me, then take a hike.

Are you for real????????? If someone were in my house, and the only action I took was to calll 911 and wait 5 minutes, you don't see something wrong with that picture? Why the fuk would I subcontract out defending my family and home to a friggin badge and a gun that 1) will probably arrive too late 2) and that doesn't give a fuk??????
Bottom line? If you come in my house uninvited, you WILL say hello to my little friend, the 2nd amendment!!!!!!!!!

You're an idiot and have obviously never dealt with cops. They don't protect you from shit. I called them once and they were useless as ****. I'll never use the police ever again. I'm shooting everyone on site instead. I'd rather be put in jail then use the police ever again.

It's interesting. I was reading an article the other day which was discussing 911 and what could have been done differently to have prevented this tragedy. The conclusion is that no matter the amount of money the feds would spend, the outcome would probably have been the same. however, it was prevented in that isolated case where the citizens (passangers) took matters into their own hands and stopped the plane from crashing into anything except the ground. There is a reason our forefathers came up with the second amendment.... they understood that citizen activism is a very powerful form of defense. To mindlessly abdicate that responsibility to "cops" is actually quite stupid. Cops don't prevent crimes. They go after the bad guys after the fact. The second amendment is there so that you can defend yourself. Don't ever forget that!!!

So your position is that no one here knows any cops?!?! i wont even dignify that with a responce.
Out of the several cops i know, most drive drunk quite often, carry thier sidearms when intoxicated. fight with the first person that doesnt think they are the greatest, and are happy to write some tickets or do a backround check on someones ex.
When i was a kid i broke into my house though a small piece of glass on the back door one day during the winter, cause i had forgotten my key. I cleaned up the glass and said i didnt know what happened when my parents got home. they call the cops and when the 2 get to the house and check out the "crime scene" they promptly puffed up thier chests and proclaimed that it was a professional who removed the class from the door cause there was no glass around!!!! I simply smiled and went to do my homework.
The police exam is a joke and intellegence is not a requirement for becoming a police officer.
the reason people call cops is to make a report. no insurance payout without a report.

I got busted by the dog police for letting my hound off the leash behind a gated and locked fenced area out back by the park. When I left, dog was back on the leash. Two dogs actually. Daughter was with me. For my "crimes" the judge said it was $175 x 2 (for each dog). Hmmmm....... is this what we really want our over paid cops to be doing with their time?

I also cant think of one time I had not had problems with a cop. I have had a couple time it did not go BAD but still was not a good experience.
I have had plenty of time when the cop was being a prick, trying to blame me for things that where clearly no my fault and being a prick in general. I think there are probably more bad than good. I use to believe or want to believe it was the opposite but I dont think so now.
This sh*t is just unreal.
