    Cops

Why do they fly down the road lights on but no sirens ? Are they trying to "sneak" up on a suspect ? I just saw one flying down and as he reached the busy intersection he didn't turn on his sirens and almost got T-boned.

Dunno.. could be a "*******" manuver, but I'm sure they do get t boned from time to time.. in D.C. they passed a law a few years ago that all cops have to have their lights on while patroling... which I think is rediculous because they can be seen coming from miles away. Its not their full on red and blues, but rather a "softer" white light that is constantly on...

that happened to me about a month ago while exiting a shopping plaza....he was flying through the intersection and just as he was going under the light he decides to put his siren on so i slammed the brake to avoid being t-boned by him only to be rear ended by the kid behind me....the cop saw this happen and just kept on going the fukin jackass...

That's retarded. Only time a cop should use the red/blues + sirens is when he is breaking traffic laws to pursue a suspect.

That sucks ghettoboyd. I remember a few months back I had my music blasting at max and windows up I couldn't hear shit. So I start to go through the intersection and look left and am ambulance I didn't hear is coming. Thankfully he saw my dumb ass.

I think most cops want more action than real life warrants so they get overexcited in these situations.

Yeah I doubt the cops like it either.. if I were them I wouldn't want people to know I was coming.. especially if they were in the middle of breaking into a car or something.. they could see me coming and split or just start walking away like nothing is going on..

I think its to alert traffic of their presence to get through without alerting criminals that they are on their way

Maybe they are going to a home break in or w/e and don't want to have the suspects hearing their sirens and fleeing the scene before they get there? I dunno. Same reason they lecture you about speeding, and then drive home from the end of their shift at 90 mph.

Ours are much more experienced than that as they can text while eating their duncun donuts dipping them in their coffee, while driving as they talk to their buddy next to them.

they do it because they can.

i HONESTLY see it all the time. they blow by you, run reds, dont signal, speed...... then 2 mins later down the road, you're either beside them at a light that they actually stopped for, or they are getting coffee, etc etc.....

then again, i'd do it too if i could

Unfortunately, a lot of time people in a position of power take advantage of it. Practice what you preach. Don't pull someone over for talking on the cell phone if you do it yourself. Some cops are cool though. They're not all power tripping

On a side note, my girlfriend's cousin just became a police officer. Knowing this guy for a while, it's very troubling to me that he's wielding that kind of authority and power! He's a cool guy to hang with, just not thrilled with the idea of him being in that kind of position.

yeah, but enough of em ARE power tripping. Control freaks with guns is not a good combination. In this case, one bad apple CAN spoil the whole bunch!

Another possibility is that they are responding to a medical call. Sometimes you will also see ambulances with their lights on but on the siren, typically they do this if they have a heart attack victim in their truck because they don't want the siren to scare them/make their heart condition worse. 2 cop cars were the first 2 responders to a neighbor of mine's about a week ago. Both had lights on but no sirens. Then also 2 ambulances and 1 fire truck, also lights but no sirens.

That said, cops typically suck ass. I used to like to screw with them when i was younger (once I told a cop during an interrogation that I was gonna dig up his dead grandmother and rape her bones lol) He didn't think it was funny but I did. The dept beat me unconscious a short while thereafter. This all occurred after the cop planted drugs on me and then arrested me, for real.

p.s. they didn't charge me with the drug crime/set up, I guess they figured justice was meted out with the beating. that was when I cared more about being macho than being a ghost/innocent joe citizen to cops.

Hahaha NOT those cops JBM lol. The previous ones. The last ones in underwear cannot arrest me. I'd be on the run and move to Mexico.... On the other hand, Igifuno, you can send those cops over to pat me down!

It mostly depends on the time of day. Between certain hours in a residential area, they are not suppose to run sirens.

I remember when i was about 12 riding in the car with my family to go to a barbecue restaurant and a firetruck blows by us going through intersections on reds. Well we get to the restaurant and see the truck parked outside so we figure something happened there

Nope. Just 4 guys sitting down and eating. Must have been an important meal
