Thread: Dine and dash

As someone who has worked in the restaurant biz for 10 years I can assure karma does not exist. For all the jerks we see there would have to waaaay more fiery car accidents daily if it did...
And nowhere I've seen has ever made a waiter or waitress pay for a dine and dash. You are, however, at least screwing them out of the tip. The managers don't want us chasing people or laying hands on them for liability reasons.
Most often it's customers who are simply too drunk and didn't even mean to. They're not really about the speedy escape. You catch up to them and they will apologize and pay (with a nice tip!). Only twice has a real dash happened that I've seen, and both times they paid dearly. Once they got the cops, the other time they got a very angry, violent waiter (who later became a cop lol).

^^ said for truth
sadly i've chased a few people (not all the time) down for shorting me etc, some try to argue and depending on the manager they either buy their meal or call the cops.
You learn about how many good people there are out there and what kind of morals people have left. Seen corrupt 70 yr old ladies who steal, kinda sad to see that we truly haven't come that far as we think

then you pay the bare minimum for the meal and don't tip - and explane on the way out why.
maybe you need to stop drinking.

and maybe she was a b*tch because you were drunk and maybe acting stupid? Obviously you dined and dashed so that is not outside of the realm of possibility

We have had a rash of immature kids who are bragging about what they stole, destroyed, who they violated or??? and it's just getting tiring and not very funny to most of us so you brought this upon yourself.

Huh? why should he go away, you're the one that posted a thread about stealing
i worked up to 80 hours a week at dennys when i was in high school to save up for college, most days i would work till 530am and go to school at 715, then be back at work by 330 and have to sleep on breaks
that stuff happened alot and when you only get 2.13/hr as a server, the loss of tips hits hard and really starts to piss you off after a while, now how bout going back and giving the waitress a big tip and apology
btw, why the hell were you DRUNK and eating at denny's while on cycle?

I've done this once or twice when I was like 15 years old. Its fvcked up. Some restraunts make the sever pay for the bill and some let it slide. Either way, the server went out of their way to take care of you and you gave them nothing in return. Unless the server is the fvcking anti-christ, I always tip 20% more. Here is a simple concept you should understand: If you cannot afford to go out and eat (including paying a legitmate tip), then DON'T go out to eat. Those who have never worked in a restraunt don't understand and NEVER will. It's living hell. You deal with cheap customers, miserable managers, and jerk off cooks. The worst part is you have to please each and every one of them or else you are not going to make any money. A cook can and WILL ruin your night if he wants to.

Another thing that cracked me up was when a big 18 or 20 top would come into the place to eat and when the check arrived, they would bitch about having to pay the 17% gratuity. Cheap motherfvckers should be grateful that it's not a mandatory 20%.
