I want to be a bartender/server

So I work as a mgnr at McD's and it's so depressing and I hate it so much.

I am, however, very personable and outgoing and people constantly tell me that I'd make great tips being a bartender.

I drink a lot but have no experience tending bar. I am food safety certified tho. And it's cheap to get your license in the state where I am.

I honestly feel like after working at mcdonald's for these last 7 months I can do anything

anybody have any advice?

I'm willing to start as a server cause I'd still make good tips, but not bouncer, becuase I'm so small. I also hope being tiny won't hurt my chances of getting hired.

My bi-weekly paychecks from mcd's are only like 650 so if i can match that. (i don't care if ppl know how much i make cause it ain't shit)

Say a Bartender makes $500 you will get $150 cash. Depends on where you live on the hourly. In Florida I got $2.15 an hour. Here in Vegas Bartenders have a union and make $14-20 hourly plus benifits and tips. Non union you make like $8-10hourly
You do all the stocking and cleaning. And you do not have to deal with customers. Bartenders can ignore people if they are rude. Servers have to go to a table full of people give a BS speil about the food and keep coming back.. This sucks if the people are rude.

It all depends on the bar/club. Some places make you pool your tips with everybody and certain jobs get a certain percentage.

I have worked in bars and clubs.
I worked at a bar in Park City Utah(ski resort town) and we made killer money 5 months of the year. Wether it was a day shift or night. A good bar with regulars that you buy drinks for from time to time you make fgood tips at.

Shit some of the cocktail waitresses out here in Vegas make $250,000 a year. $5,000 in a night is not unheard of

My girl makes about 65k a year bartending. She was making more when she was working at a club. I barbacked for about a year. Job was fun. I made all the drinks after-hours for the bouncers and all. I don't like being on that side of the bar that much tho and it was causing me to drink way more often then I wanted to.

now i have to figure out if i go downtown where 50,000 college students are coming back to in two weeks, or stay on the west side.

I want a job where i can pay off most of my rent by picking up two shifts. not that I'd live that close to the line with my money but you get the point

and I'm 22. I'm gonna have two business admin. degrees once i'm done here in a few months. I'd like to analyze financial statements for the Red Cross. or open coffee shops, but there's not enough money in that. I'd also like to take after Manicc and work in the sub prime finance industry. Or I'd like to open a bar one day perhaps. it's another penny profit business and it can be made based on YOUR fantasy of a perfect place

Barbacking sucks. You are the bartenders bitch/slave for the ENTIRE shift. IF they need ice..you get it. If they need a fvcking orange from the kitchen...you get it. If they want food for themselves...you get it for them. I absolutely hated doing that shit. Tipping jobs are okay for a while but you have to understand that in order to be sucessful in a tipping job, you have to kiss ass 24/7. Which is precisely why I got into bouncing when I was 19.
