Haha.. this thing has a back seat and a trunk that you could fit a few dead bodies in.. Americans just didn't know what "compact" meant back then.. unfortunatley it causes for some difficulty when it comes to handling and performance.

Awesome car. My mother-in-law just got a new 335 and it doesn't have the soul. Yeah, I chalk mine up to "young and stupid"...even though I was in my late 30s. Heh.



I hang out with a lot of different car groups, so I hear these arguments all the time. Personally, I don't care where a car comes from. They are all built for a purpose and comparing apples to oranges just gets people frustrated. Sure, you can make a Honda CRX beat a Z06 in a drag race, but it will suck on the street and won't stand a chance if it has to turn. Rather than argue about which is better, I prefer to think that they are both good at what they were built to do.

I am all about people getting together and appreciating cars in general. The toughest time I ever had was getting a few of my Lambo friends and several Nissan folks together for a charity rally. It was dicy at first, but eventually the Lambo guys realized the Nissan guys were just younger versions of themselves.

This is my '04 Supercharged vette I bought after. My dad and I cut the hood ourselves and it turned out perfect. 501rwhp (roughly 600hp motor)
I ran a best of 11.0 @ 127mph in the quarter with a 6.99 @ 101mph in the 1/8.

Is that a Magnuson supercharger? MP 2300? Hard to tell from the picture with the hood closed. Does the power drop off when the engine gets hot, since it is sitting right on top? I have heard those models get heat soaked and on a hot day can lose more than 100 horsepower. Any thoughts?

Nothing, but it does not matter because the air intake inlet is elsewhere (not right on top). A little rain on the engine will not hurt it. I think the hole in the hood looks cool, like a retro car with a blower sticking out!

More questions (sorry, I am way more of a car guy than a bodybuilder guy), did you do the engine modifications yourself? What rear tires did you use to get the 11.0 e.t.? Is it a stick, and, if so, what modifications to the tranny and/or clutch? What was your 60 foot time?

I had a vararam air intake on that so no issues with rain, but of course I dont take it out in the rain. Its a magnacharger MP112. Not the huge one. But I had a blower cam from 21st Century Muscle Cars that helped get me to the 501rwhp on 7lbs of boost. I never had heat issues with the charger. Of course, just dont hot-lap it on a track on a hot day and you'll be fine. 6-speed, stock clutch. The '04 coupe came with a Z06 clutch as stock, so that was nice. I had Mickey Thompson ET streets to get me my 1.67, 60ft time and 11.0 at 128mph. All the mods were done at my buddys shop LS1 Excitement.

1.67 - That is pretty amazing on a stock clutch. When you say e.t. streets, that is actually a bias ply. Do you mean the bias ply or the radial? What size? I will be even more impressed if this is some 17 inch wheel diameter with no sidewall to speak of.

I did read somewhere that Chevy put the same steering wheel in the vega as it did in the vette one year.The article was chewing up the vette about the seats and everything.They said for the money.Chevy didnt dress it up like a real sports car.I like the vette myself.But I can see wat they were saying.
