Going to stay at the royal solaris next week with some friends, should be a great trip. Just looking for some tips or info from anyone who has been there and wants to share.

If by chance you ever get pulled ( if you rent a car) and the Federales want to take your license, legally they cannot. They will try. And you will never get it back. Tell them you know the policy.
Watch out for parking if you rent a car or they will take your plates which are about 350 bucks.
Rent a taxi IMO. They know where to go and you can drink too and not drive and it is about the same amount of money when all is said and done since you do not have to go get the car nor wait in line nor return it.
If you think renting a jeep sounds adventurous, then realize that you cannot store cameras/personal items plus too hot for your head and at night the bugs are horrendous while driving.
Keep your valuables in the hotel safe when you arrive.
HAVE FUN WATCHING THE GIRLS IN SKIMPY OUTFITS!
BE SAFE~
ENJOY!

Nice place. I have stayed there. The food is good. Are you going all inclusive? Beaches are nice. Not much to do around there and Cabo San Lucas is 30 minutes away by taxi. If you like to party down town, bar hop you will find it is a bet far but if you are more into relaxing, staying in one area, eating and drinking at one location then it's a nice place.
Rooms are not bad but not great. It's not a 4 star but a decent 3 star hotel.
If you want to buy alcohol to bring home go to the MEGA store about 3 blocks away. Best prices around and better than down town by far. If you are into expensive/high end Tequila or so cool souvenir stuff there is a liquor store 1 mile before the Costco on your way to Cabo San Lucas on your right side (same side as Costco).
You have to spend at least one day/night in Cabo San Lucas. Rent jetski and go out to the arch, go fishing? enjoy the clubs. The mall in the marina would be your best local bet since it has a lot of pharmacies inside but I never asked.
From the Airport take the bus. It's a straight shot on the toll road to your hotel. It's about 1 mile or less at the end of the Toll road. The Toll road ends at Mega store.
Three is also a bus that runs back and forth to Cabo San Lucas. It's cheap but takes about 1 hr. Taki is the best to get from Los Cabos, (royal solaris) to Cabo San Lucas
Of course going to Cabo Wabo is a must and if you are lucky Sammy may be there for Spring Break but he is usually there on/around his Birthday in October.
If you are going with buddies it's fun to go into some of the local strip bars just to have the manager try to tell you want a great bargain it is to take one of the beautiful (FAT/UGLY) Senoritas for an hour for $300+ hahahahaha It's good for a cold beer and a laugh. DONT buy anything from any of the street guys there. 99.999% all scams and you will get jumped or busted by the local police at the same time. I got to know one of the local waiters and of course he knew all the ins/outs and could have hooked me up with anything I was looking for. My buddy and I where pretty popular at the resort because on day two we went fishing; caught quite a few BIG fish and gave it all to the kitchen crew and waiters.Last edited by lovbyts; 04-05-2011 at 12:16 AM.

Thanks for advice guys, as far as gear is concerned I don't think it's worth taking the risk.

^^That is what I thought. Also...if you snorkel and have your own equipment, then the beach at Club Med has the best. All the beaches in Mexico are public.

little known fact to everyone but it all depends obviously but personal drug possesion in mexico is legal!!! Yup you heard me!!! You can have less then 5 grams of weed, half gram of coke, 50mgs of heroin, 40 mgs of meth, and .015 of lsd lol!!! If you don't believe me here is the article
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/21/wo.../21mexico.html
I love mexico and have been there 30-40 times especially baja california. I even had a gf down there for a while in TJ who was a knockout. Drove down there by myself been to the baja races and the have to say the outlaw life is definitely very appealing.

mexicans in mexico are very different then the ones here in the state. There is no middle class in mexico either you have money or you don't. If you do you don't come to the states because you live like royalty over there. Most of the mexicans here are indian descent hence why they are all short and look the same.

true the "policia" is very corrupt due to low wages but i mean obviously you would be discreet about your doings. I have paid my ways out of wrongdoings down there this is what i was mentioning with the outlaw life its an adventure.
especially a place like cancun that caters to americans you have nothing to worry about just dont be a knucklehead

This comes with a seasoned traveler with street sense......not the casual tourist.
I agree.....and always carried cash especially in my glove compartment as I put a high bill in my registration envelope and handed that to the policia instead. They loved me and escorted me out at times.
