    Damn IRS

I found out last summer that i owed some extra taxes. They were right and caught it. I started making payments to them last July. I send them at least $50 a month usually more. So i get in the mail a statement today since it has been a year since i started making payments. I look at the balance and i owe more then i started. They only show 1 payment in Feb. for $5. That was a $50 payment. I spoke to them after 2 hours i have to get copies of all the checks that cleared. They have no record of anything. I already found over $700 in cashed checks. How the hell did they not apply my payments

No wonder our government sucks at money, If they would have not applied 1 or 2 payments i probably wouldn't have caught it. I wonder how many people they screw over.

GB, I'm a CPA. Having worked with the IRS many times (although it's been years), and yes, I've heard stories like this before. Did you sent the money exactly to the place they told you to send it? If you sent it in where you would normally send your tax returns, then that is probably the wrong place.

Ive heard so many stories like this. They purposely screw everyone they can just to make it tough on you. They know what you paid. It just gives someone an excuse to have an overpaid pointless job making you prove what you have owed and expect them to loose all those records and before it's over threaten to garnish your wages, prosecute you, send you to jail etc. They do it because they can, no other reason.

Make sure you take down notes of ever phone call, every person you speak to starting with your last call. Ask for they extension, ID and anything else you can get. Ask them to email or fax you immediate receipts and any/all records you can get. Any BS tell them fine, you will get an IRS attorney and counter sew them and without making any personal threats make it clear to anyone harassing you it's THEM you are responding to, not the IRS since they are making it personal screwing with your life and not doing their job by fixing screw-up.

i had trouble with the irs for years...i owned a business and didnt pay enough taxes and they eventually cought up with me...it took me five years to finnaly catch up with them muther fukers but i am finnally free from the bitches...let me just say that they are easy to work with to pay them back but if you stop paying them for a number of months like my wife decided to do without consulting me, they are ruthless...a few years back 2 days before christmass they decided to place a levy of all my and my wifes accounts to get our attention...i was left with no funds to even buy grocerys till i contacted them and begged for mercy...anyways, moral of the story: pay your fukin taxes....ooh and on a more positive front i have since moved out the ghetto...i am now upper lower, lower middle class ....

they were sending me bills every month so i was mailing them back with the slip they provided. I set up direct withdraw from my checking account with them. They made 3 withdrawals of $50 each and gave me credit for 1 payment of $5.

yea get everything together and give them a call first,, most people you will talk to on the phone are pretty much low level retards and will not clear anything up,, but you may get lucky if a semi smart one answers. Trust me i owe them fks money every year and talk with them constantly. PS even if they say oh yea we made a mistake and we will clear it up, call back a few weeks later and make sure.
