Oh wow, really...just too many bands to name. Lets see.....

    Soundgarden
    Pearl Jam
    Temple of the Dog
    Pantera
    Nirvana
    Bush
    Faith no More
    Deftones
    Slayer
    Megadeth
    Alice in Chains
Mastadon (though they just creeped in, forming in 1999)
    Michael Jackson 90's music
    Chille Peppers
    Foo Fighters
    NIN
    Tool
    Korn
    Slipknot
    Disturbed

Rock and metal music was about a MILLION TIMES better in the 90's than the stuff out today.

Hell, even Coldplays debut album in 1999 was pretty cool. Mostly stuff they do now is so...."Radio 1".

I even think music across the other genres then like Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Country were better in the 90's as well. Oh, The Prodigy also deserve a very worthy mention.

One of my favs were Alice in Chains. While labeled as 'grunge', they were DEFINITELY on the heavier/darker side, as compared to bands like Pearl Jam or Stone Temple Pilots.

So what about you guys? I'd be especially interested to hear if/how this genre, being born in America, translated in Europe, England, etc.
Thats my favorite generation of music. That and the 80's rocked too!!!!

x2... extremely influential... basically gave birth to bands like Limp Bizkit, etc. but we won't hold that against them lol!

They fused rap/rock together beautifully. Sure Run DMC/Aerosmith and the Beastie Boyz were doing it first, but RATM made it it's own genre.
