    Live and Learn I guess........

Was at the gym today. A couple of blokes opposite me on the pull down machine were bitching about sore shoulders. I took a chance and began talking to them about TB500. I faced skepticism and they were a little put offish. they were older, so i thought they would be a little more receptive. Apparently not. Ended up by telling them just to look it up on wiki.

It seems everyone knows everything at the gym, and new ideas not thought up by them must be bogus.

Next time i"ll just keep my friggin mouth shut.

Yeah, that sucks. Im not gonna say I am the most social person ever, but I dont make it a point to ignore or put someone off. Not cool. It's not like you were telling him to fix his form... I just told a 46 year old in the introduction forum to check out your TB500 thread. Hopefully he goes there.

I told a roughly 50 year old man today that it only takes 2 seconds to put his weights back, he nodded and continued cardio. A$$HOLE!

some people just just aren't receptive to some sound gentle advice. but then again, some are. earlier today in the gym i mentioned to a younger guy who was performing db shrugs and rolling his shoulders, that that movement could cause injury. i simply quietly suggested he stand tall and raise an lower his shoulders straight up and down. he thanked me and continued on, after adjusting his technique.

Well, he isn't going to give you the satisfaction of telling him what to do...but maybe he will rack them in the future. You know, when it is his idea, not yours. You are NOT the boss of him! Heh.

Even on this site, it makes one wonder what the % is that actually listens and takes the advise. I think most people want a quick fix, 5 minutes or less or they don't want it at all.

You know I am pretty friendly the other day but some chick (maybe she was hitting on me) told me I should add a certain lift to my back exercise while I lifting. I looked her like are you really telling me how to lift.

Good rule to follow but even then I tend to not say to much.

They probably think it's a STEROID or??? Some people as you say are just not very receptive. Obviously they are only complaining to have something to talk about. Anyone who has any real pain or discomfort I would think would listen to most anything or at least consider it.

Definitely agree. Even though I'm young I've tried helping a few high school kids before and they've just ignored me even when I know I'm right (not trying to sound arrogant or like a ****). I was just generally trying to help them because they could have easily injured themselves or will in the future. I guess most people just want to do their own thing in the gym whether it's scientifically right or wrong.

Don't worry big guy, you were doing the right thing and just being polite and sociable. Most people would love help from and experienced vet. I guess some people can't face being wrong or being helped out in the gym.

    No shit ey. . .

I'd ask her her to come over and help out.

I follow what is mentioned above: I don't help or try to help unless I am asked for it.
