Doesn't fed law trump anything they do at state level so its just to make a statement then? I do think mary jane should be legalized, taxed and regulated.

i believe so. So a local or state cop wont bust you, but i guess technically the DEA can. But its only legal for small quanities so i dont see them coming to someone house. But the ymay go after the places that sell it

ton of money. The money it brings in in taxes.
All the money it saves in police work. Arrest and court and jails. The savings would be huge.
Plus it would probably lower crime and violence

Yeah. I don't understand how alcohol has been legal for so many years and weed has not. You could give he nicest guy in the world a bottle of booze, and he could turn into a huge fvcking asshole. I have never seen ANYONE get belligerent or combative while high.

I don't engage in recreational drug activity, but I think it definitely will help with taxes. After hearing the Obama news, we will need all the fvcking help we can get with taxes.

Technically the constitution is written to give power to the states and federal law is supposed to respect state law. If the government was honest, the feds would need to honor the states individual law and not prosecute otherwise. However, the government has ignored that in the past so what's stopping them now...time will tell.

Less cops time used up for nothing. Courts not being flooded with petty low amount possession bullshit. More tax income. Hopefully less crime.

As long as they don't allow people selling pounds of it. Set a possession age limit and enforce it.

Could be a very positive thing.

it's really the only positive thing to come out of the election as far as i'm concerned. now let's see how long it takes before obama and holder start cracking down on those two states.

Yeah the UW use to grow some pretty good sh*t back in the late 70s, early 80s and due to seed sharing it is not the typical home grown, not like the old Columbia gold shake garbage in the 70s where it was mostly stems and seeds. lol

I had a buddy take some to Mexico with us several years ago (without my knowledge) and shared it with some locals. They were more than impressed compared to what they were able to get locally at the time.

I gave the stuff up years ago so it wouldn't directly affect me, but the increased revenue to the state will be very beneficial.

Yep it was, not just by paper producers but especially by cotton growers, hemp is far far superior for making clothing to cotton, far more durable and becomes very soft when broken in. I have a hemp shirt I've had for 20 years, still looks brand new! Sail makers(back in the day) used hemp for sails as it was far superior to cotton. The stigmatism that became attached to pot came about due to the Mexicans smoking it while working menial jobs, the song"la cueca racha " translates to "the cockroach" or roach, the end of a joint. The rest is history. A great book to read on the subject is " The Emperor Wears no Clothes" check it out! Kudos to Washington and Colorado for doing the right thing!

I'll tell you what. Most think of this as a victory. I look at it a little different. I don't think the government had any business telling us what we can do in our own homes in the first place. I look at this more like putting government back in it's place

Disagree. I find marijuana harmless. If you wanna smoke it in your own home, then so be it. I don't know too many people that become addicts or degenerates because of marijuana and I find that "gateway drug" statement a bunch of bs. However, when it comes to harder and more highly addictive substances like Heroin or Meth, the government should have the right to tell you what to do in your own home. Those two substances ruin several lives and turn them into compulsive degenerates, which leads to them doing illegal things outside of their home that can have a harmful impact on others (stealing, breaking and entering, murder, etc....)

Federal law does trump but they said they will not do anything but monitor how much is grown to how much is sold to make sure none is sold on the black market. Every single plant is accounted for through a computerized system. I was impressed when I watched the show on it, they have great tracking system.

question as to what you were watching.
im legally allowed to grow up to 180 plants in colorado and have upto 2 lbs on me at all times for medicinal use.
they have zero tracking on any of my plants. but they have come in and checked the warehouse several times...

I agree. 60 minutes, wasn't it?

My biggest problem with prohibition, is that it creates a huge black market. If it is legal, the black market pretty much goes away. If legal, then not as many are sent to jail. Back log in courts is reduced. Legal fees goes down. Costs of incarceration goes down. Tax revenue goes up. Creates real jobs, not just blokes standing on the corner selling dime bags.

I friggin HATE big government telling us what we should and should not do!!!

If i'm in my house and not hurting anyone, then who the hell cares!!!

I just reread it 3x. My opinion still stands. You say, quote on quote "I don't think the government had any business telling us what we can do in our own homes in the first place." and I gave my reasoning for why I disagree. If you used the words "as long as we are not hurting/harming others" then I would have agreed with your post...

ok, now Im confused. we are talking about marijuana right? My position is that the government has no right to tell me what i can or cannot do in my own home so long as i am not hurting anyone. And this includes partaking of the herb if that is my choice. (personally, i do not partake, but if you are in your home and want to, then i will support your right to be able to decide for yourself)

How is this disagreeing with you?
