Embarrassing wuss moment
OK, so I do not like pain. I don't know how I managed to get so many tattoos, but somehow I did. I was always the loudest one in any shop.
Trouble is, some of the tattoos were done when I had, let's say, very different ideas about things, and after leaving that "scene" I wanted them gone. I was having to smear makeup on them every day anyway. I looked into lasers, which I saw would take too long, so I decided on cover-up tattoos instead.
I learned the cover ups hurt even worse; everyone said going over an old tat will always be worse than the first time around. I made it through one ankle and the back of my neck with just my usual screaming and yelling, but for some reason the other ankle was a lot worse.
I got an hour of work done a few months ago and was prepared to have the whole thing finished, but she basically cut me off for being too loud. She finally used some lidocaine cream and that took a lot of the edge off, but not totally.
So I went back today to get it finished, thinking she could just use the cream and I'd make it, but for some reason it didn't work! I made it maybe 15 minutes and just said, that's it, I can't do this.
I said I'd try again tomorrow; maybe just pay for the thing in 15-minute increments until it's over. I have a few vicodin; maybe that will help.

A couple of Demerol before you go in next time and you'll be asking for a face tattoo.

Just STOP being a wuss UIS
My last session was 6 hours with a good portion done right into my armpit...I can testify to what a wuss sounds like!

I actually just got a new tat less than 6 hours ago.
Have you tried listening to your iPod during the ink? Putting in on really loud and focussing on the music. As well most lines on tats last for 2-3 seconds. Maybe up to 10 or so if they are shading. Take a deep breath when the pain starts and exhale and try to let the pain leave with your breath.
Good luck!

Just stop being a vagina. Wash that sand out. All your going to do is piss off your artist for waisting time. 15 minute incriments isn't shit. Takes that long in prep alone.

I am a vagina.
Maybe I'll try the ipod. The artists' constant nattering about bars and bands and t-shirts kinda made it worse.

I could see that, would bug the crap out of almost anyone. Especially when your already on edge. Probably just make you want to be done even faster.

The lines are all done; they're just doing shading now, which is always worse.

I would so show up drunk if I didn't already have a DUI. But then they might not work on me.

Buy a lifetime supply of temporary tattoos and slap a new bitch on there every day. Problem solved and pain free!

Where are you getting the tattoo?
If there is a lot of flesh shouldn't be to bad.
Your artist may be heavy handed. May need a better artist.
I just did 3 hrs yesterday and 6 hrs 2 weeks ago. Mind over matter
5 mg Valium makes everything ok.

Ask the artist if she has a silent machine they're awesome I've used one on my wife and she says it was painless that was on her ribs shading

You quit too soon. After about 20 mins or so for me the area goes numb. i dont know if its a physical response or what. The biggest mistake , and what imo you should never do , is take a break. i was getting a large tribal that covers much of my upper back and across my shoulders done. The artist asked if i wanted to take a break. what a mistake.....the area just got super tender mainly in the area across my spine up by the back of my neck- lesson learned. do it in one sitting. Or do it in several...but DONT take like a 15 min break and sit back down.

Trying again today...will take 2 vicodin before I go in, and use the lidocaine cream I have at home, the kind you put on 2 hrs before an injection. I got it for my kids to use before their immunizations. It worked for them, the nurses had never seen a little baby who didn't make a sound after a shot! So not sure if it will work for a tattoo but probably better than nothing.
How drunk do you have to be before the bleeding thing is an issue? I might be able to have just a couple of shots before I walk in, if I can find a bar nearby that's open at noon.

Go with a Vic and iPod. 2 bike your stomach might turn on you. Artist don't like criers, but they hate pukers.

I had to laugh at all the ppl telling UIS to stop being a girl lol. I know she would stand up for herself if it hurt her sensative nature
Hey UIS, it's going to hurt the closer you get to bone. It's the down side of you being so lean. Stay with it like Jimmy said. You need to wait for the endorphine response and the pain will be much less (till that wears off after an hour or so and ya still got 5 hours to go OUCH) lol

It doesn't look like a bruise and I've never seen anyone who has it could b a minor reaction with the gear your on at the moment
The only other thing I've seen similar to this was on a smack head but that was because he was using methadone and his body rejected the ink
I'd get it looked at tbh or go back to your artist
