Nice saw. Is that a band saw or some type of reciprocating saw?

I did the last finishing steps for the rack today, welded the feet on, drilled an offset whole on the catches and decreased it all...

I've dropped it off at the powder coaters, should be done pretty quickly.... Maybe get it back tommorow if I'm lucky....

I also cut all my stainless steel strips that are going to protect anything that the bar may hit... They will be stuck onto the catches and the safety's....

I also grabbed just over 3 metres of 25mm round bar for my safety squat bar.... Mitred all the cuts with an angle grinder.... That just needs a bit of prep and then welding up too... Will probably just hammerite that bar....

I'd like to make a low flat bench too...

I also made some weight plates out of ply wood at the weekend so that my GF can deadlift fron the correct height (bar height) without having to deadlift a full 45lb plate..... I just cut 6 disks out of 12mm ply the same side as a 45lb plate, cut them out with a jigsaw and glued/ screwed them together.... Each one weighs less that 10lbs so it's perfect for her to use them for deadlifts.... She already did a deadlift session with them and they worked perfectly

Overall looks pretty solid. I'm a CWI. Welds look good. What steel did you use A572/709-G50? And what's the strength on the rod you burned?

Powder coat finish looks clean too! Very impressed.

Pass on the type of steel, not exactly sure.... I just went to a steel supplier who I've used before and gave them my order....

The frame is 60x60x3mm and the safety's are 70x70x3.6mm

As far as the rods they are 8mm stainless.... I'd be guessing but I'd imagine the sheer was over 10 tonne.... So 2 sheers per safety (rod goes in and out)... 20ish tonne sheer.... Basically the box section would probably tear appart before the rod breaks if thats what your thinking

Yeh I'm happy with the powder coat too... Has really come out good

Actually when I said rod, I was referring to the flux. You gotta know the expression "burn some rod"

Ha, yeah not many people use rod anymore, It's all wire. I tried using my old arch welder a while back with some OLD rod. I sold it. lol I use to be able to lay down a nice bead but that was a while back and it's MUCH easier to use wire anymore.
