My next project... Press/squat rack build
My current project on the go is to build a multi press/ squat rack for a home gym.... It will be a cross between the two images below...
I am going to TIG weld the frame up this week and then it's going to be powder coated black.... Some parts are going to be protected using stainless sheet so the paint Finnish keeps good....
This is the steel, cut to length... If anyone wants diagrams or dimensions I'm happy to share.... The steel cost me £80 and that was with all the cuts.... The frame is going to be made out of 60x60x3mm box section....

Just finished the drilling..... You will need to use a cobalt tipped drill bit and plenty of light oil.... These are 9mm holes...

There is nothing too difficult to a project like this.... Just plan it well... I actually called up the company who produce that white and black press/squat rack and took some measurements over the phone LOL
The only thing that requires a bit of skill is welding.... If u really wanna learn how to weld Quickly buy a cheap MIG welder... If u wanna learn how the hard way buy an Arc welder and get practicing on some off cuts from a steel supplier or scrap yard...
My dad was a metal fabricator so I learnt to MIG weld when I was young.... A few years ago I bought an Arc welder cuz they are so cheap while building another bit of gym kit.... Learning to arc weld is harder but will eventually make you a better welder if you go on to use MIG...
Lol just have a go.... Build a bench out of box section.... Basics you would need would be a hack saw... Arc/MIG welder...a saw to cuz the ply for the bench and a staple gun to staple the bench wrap to the bottom of the bench...
Lol
Yeh a lot cheaper.... That first pic retails at £1325....
Let see how this one turns out

Next things on the list to build are.... A safety squat bar... Weight tree.... Adjustable bench..... Single grappler Handel...
I will post pics of everything to inspire you guys to have a go yourselves...

Hope none of you have to live through a zombie apocalypse . lol
I hate doing stuff like that anymore, takes to much time and I have even sold some of my tools like my drill press, wheel grinder and such but I still have plenty of drills, files and everything I need to build by hand if I had to.
I use to do that stuff for a living also working in the factory so it just wasnt much fun to do at home or as a hobby.
Looks good so far. Did you build a jig for drilling the holes to get all the holes perfect or your just good at measuring? You are going to do the welding also? I also just sold my welder I had for 20+ years. Dont really find a use for it in the last 15 except for 1x and it was just collecting dust.
Cute little lathe. I also had 3 years machine shop and welding in high school. It still should be a required class for all boys I think.

For the holes I just marked it all up, measured it up by hand... The holes are spaced 40mm appart... I actually fuked up some of the holes on the second pass (in and out the other side) cuz the steel was slightly twisted on a few of the passes (I didn't have the travell on the drill to do it in one pass so I had to prop the section up each time with a few bits of MDF)... The first pass on the measured up sides are perfect really... Even the holes that are slightly out of alignment still line up enough for this to work tho so i was lucky really....
Yeh I'm doing the welding at my dads shop so I can use his MIG or TIG... I wanna get the welds perfect so that it looks good when powder coated.... I could do it with my stick welder but the mess just isn't worth it when I can get the whole thing out on a big welding table and just MIG it...
And that little shed isn't mine BTW.... I was just using it to borrow the drill... I don't have a shed or anything at my house... When I move I will set up a nice workshop
My job has nothing to do with this so I find doing this kind of stuff really fun....

Looking good base i was going to ask if you were in fabrication but after reading your not but at least you lerent from your dad. I used to do manual turning and milling now i just do cnc turning.
I have a power cage in my garage but i just bought mine probs would have been better if i just fabricated one

So, forgive me if im wrong, but, What your saying is..
If I were come to London, the only way i'm going to have secks with a female, is by paying, and if I don't want to pay, I have to put up with trannies?
This would mean that ALL of the women in London are Whores?
or is my logic flawed?

Wh1spa -- I think you missed the whole conversation. It was about last-boys to begin with! It was a joke I was continuing from another thread. Lunk would understand. I wasn't insinuating that you were incapable of getting laid. I was on the topic of shemale prostitutes from the start. I've sidelined this thread enough though.
Sorry OP.

Did a bit more work on the rack today....
All that's left to do now is weld the feet plates and drill a half space whole on the safety's and rack hooks.... This allows for spacing every 20mm
Then I have to decide on powder coat or hammerite.... Powder coat cost more but will be better...
