Hell I love listening to all the different slangs.I think its funny.I had the pleasure of working with a Englishman many years ago.He was a older guy but a lot of fun.I will remember him all of my life. And if you think of it we Americans use a lot of words out of context. But then o do a lot of other countries Thats why when you learn a new laguage and go to their country. You cant understand anything.

Actually, the term Yankee or Yank dates back to the French-Indian war and fully surfaced during the American Revolution. "Yankee Doodle Dandy" was a derisive song about a simple, naive colonist, which we proudly adopted out of a sense of irony by playing it during the British surrender at Yorktown.

For the record, we Canadians have our own vernacular:
it's Igloo, not house
Mukluks, not shoes
Dog sled, not pickup truck
Husky power, not horse power
Parka, not windbraker
Snowshoes, not loafers
eh, not huh
and smoke signals, not 4g network

Did someone vomit on your fish and chips? And ketchup, not malt vinegar?

This might be a weird question, but what kind of fish is typically used in traditional British fish and chips, you know the type you get in a typical london pub with a great lager?
Here on the pacific north west it's typically Halibut, Ling Cod, or Rock Cod.

It's not fish and chips, it's fish and fries... We went through this a few years ago.

Bangers and Beers. Wanna get some bangers and beers? Thats what my bud used to say. I knew which bar we were going to when he asked. They had incredible sausages...and good beer.

Some peeps write 'period' out for emphases. I am done for today, PERIOD. Meaning seriously done. The period punctuation mark is still necessary to be grammatically correct.

Btw it gets really fun, when you start talking about American ebonics, man that shit is even more confusing then the crazy shit you Brits say....
"Is you storyin on me?" = Are you lying about me?
"I gots to axe you somethin" = I need to ASK you something
"Yo what up yo" - Yes, these degenerate pieces of shit actually BEGIN and END a sentence with the word 'Yo', which can hardly be considered a word in the first place, just a bastardization of the word YOU.

No to get off subject but in regards to guns did you know that Sweden is in the top 10 in number of legal gun owners in the world and also the lowest crime rate in the world. Only good reason for restricting legal gun ownership is government control of population.
The reason we have trouble speaking the English language is as you said, we bastardized it. We use WAY to much slang and one word has 4 meaning. It's fumy like when I visit the Philippines; most all of them know English but have a hard time understanding most people because of how poorly we use our own language. When I speak to them or anyone not English I speak a little slower and use about 1/2 as many words as I normally would. I keep it simple and I get complements all the time on how GOOD my English is. lol
