    Vacation planning

Ok so me and the fiancé are sitting here talking about our anniversary/vacation we r planning. But actually have no clue where to start. All inclusive resorts on the islands have come up. Cruises have come up. Napa valley also.

Would like to hear thoughts or experiences on a great vaca destination. Would like to stay in the USA, Caribbean, maybe Canada.

If you're in Florida jump on a cruise from Fort Lauderdale or drive down to the keys for a week!

Sandals is one thing we looked at. Cruises out of ftlauderdale aren't usually the good ones. Miami are the better. I love cruises. She's never been though and not sure about being "trapped" lol.

    Keys are out.

Culebra Island, Puerto Rico hands down. http://www.islaculebra.com/ Not very far from St. Thomas (take a water taxi) and DIRT cheap compared to the most other Caribbean options. You can rent a house for what hotel rooms cost at most resorts. Plus, being able to jump on a water taxi and go to the USVI or take an air taxi back to San Juan if you wanna tour the city. Another bonus is the rain forests... Considering you are in FL- I don't think you can get a cheaper flight. Its typically sub-$200 for a flight and here's a bunch of houses for rent: http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals...culebra-island

If you're looking to get butt naked in a hot tub and do the whole romance thing... can't beat it

Mexico is fine if you go to a place like Cancun or Cabo. I'd rather go with my friends there than bring my ball and chain, but it's still fun.

Saint Martin is a really nice vacation spot in the Caribbean.

If you are taking the GF go on a cruise. Personally I never understood celebrating the anniversary of a GF in a big way. You are just setting yourself up in the future because you know what WC Fields said, "Never try to impress a woman, because if you do she'll expect you to keep up the standard for the rest of your life."

My suggestion is leave the GF at home and go to Thailand for 2 weeks.

I don't know what you're looking to spend, but if you want to keep it reasonable I know ppl who just came back from the Riu Palace Bavaro in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and they said it was great. I think that Riu is 4-stars, but not sure. Our friends raved about it so much, we're thinking about going there for our next trip.

Not too long ago I went to the Cove at the Atlantis. My wife and I both loved it but it can get a bit pricey. We've been to a few all-inclusives and always had a great time. Definitely thinking about that or a cruise for next trip.

For 12k a night it had better come with a few birds of it's own so you dont need to bring one....

I priced out going to Bora Bora for 10 days back in Oct because I had 2 weeks of time off to use at work (use or lose). It was almost $30K for two people. The flights alone were $5K each from Atlanta. I wanted to stay in one of those huts on the ocean and that was $2K a day. After I ran all the numbers... no way in hell would I spend that much time on a plane plus that kind of money for a week long trip. I could go pretty much anywhere in the USVI and live there for 6 months on that kind of money, lol.

Maldives will be just as much for sure, lol.

I'm not anymore- in Chicago now.... but going back to Atlanta in a few months. I use to live in Buckhead and Virginia Highlands- going back there I think in June/July.
