Flu shots and flu remedies?
I've always thought flu shots were a conspiracy to weed us out,but now I have the flu and it feels like I literally got ran over. Now I'm wishing I would have gotten one. It's steelhead season and I'm wasting my sick days being sick instead of enjoying this unseasonably warm weather on the west coast. It started with a headache and some body aches over the weekend and this morning I woke up to a violent cough and horrible body aches and 101 fever. I went to the dr and he scolded me about the flu shot and then prescribed flumadine since everyones out of tamiflu. Does anyone else get a flu shot? Does anyone have a good home remedy or anti flu supplement stack? Will flumadine help at all?
Thanks

Thanks guys I'll get one next year for sure lesson learned. I usually never get sick so I never really worry about it and I know people who have gotten the shot and get sick right afterwards. They usually aren't sick for very long but still. Oh well lots of rest and see what's on the DVR. I record so many things and never have time to watch them

I feel the flu is man made (clearly a pharmaceutical money maker) and starts by guess what, the flu shot. Those people then spread it to the rest of us and it spreads.
Never had a flu shot and never got the flu. I feel for those who do though, I hate getting sick. Couldn't imagine having the flu and being in bed for a week feeling like death.

I have never had a flu shot. Yes I have had it once or twice, maybe. I would rather let my own immune system take care of it. Most people i know who get the shot get sick at least temporarily. I have heard/read to many reports also showing the shots do no good. To many possible side effects from vaccinations now days IMO. Down syndrome is directly connected to childhood vaccinations as well as many other deformities.
I would like to see an independent study on the people who die from flu and if they got the flu shot or not....
With a short search I have already found some article about people who died shortly after getting the flu shot.... Interesting. No thanks.Last edited by lovbyts; 01-16-2014 at 12:26 AM.

WHO | World Health Organization
Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent infection and severe outcomes caused by influenza viruses.
Safe and effective vaccines have been available and used for more than 60 years. Among healthy adults, influenza vaccine can prevent 70% to 90% of influenza-specific illness. Among the elderly, the vaccine reduces severe illness and complications by up to 60%, and deaths by 80%.
Vaccination is especially important for people at higher risk of serious influenza complications, and for people who live with or care for high risk individuals.
WHO recommends annual vaccination for (in order of priority):
1 nursing-home residents (the elderly or disabled);
2 people with chronic medical conditions;
3 elderly individuals; and
4 other groups such as pregnant women, health care workers, those with essential functions in society, as well as children from ages six months to two years.
its just a recommendation. but every individual has the right to choose.

This past summer/fall I was catching a cold every 6 weeks or so and I rarely get sick. Was referred to an immunologist who found through blood work that a couple of antibodies in my system were skewed. Apparently this can happen as we age sometimes. She recommended both a flu & pneumonia shot. It worked well in raising the affected antibodies & I haven't been sick now in months. She advised I should continue this regimen for the rest of my life for safety sake (Flu Shot; yearly / Pneumonia Shot; every 5 years). I even avoided getting the flu when my Fiance came down with it last month. Thank goodness, as she was literally in bed for over a week straight...

I get one every year. At least I know that I will be protected from a few strains as long as I don't come in contact with one prior to my body building up the antibodies; which takes about two weeks.
People who say that the flu shot gave them the flu, or did not protect them, obviously don't understand how a flu shot works, what it does, and what it doesn't do.

Down's syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by an extra copy of a chromosome. Nothing can cause that after conception.
You mean autism. And even those claims are bullshit, started by a crooked doctor hungry for fame and propagated by that stupid bitch, Jenny McCarthy (her kid never even had Down's, btw. It was a condition brought on by anoxic brain injury).
This fear of vaccines is mind-boggling. For every person who claims that they were harmed by a vaccine, there are easily 1,000 others who were saved from an agonizing death.
PS: Myself and everybody at my company (about 200 people) received the flu vaccine this year. The only complaints were of site tenderness (which wasn't even as bad as a shot of test prop).Last edited by Bonaparte; 01-16-2014 at 09:14 PM.

I haven't had the flu in 10-15 years...... And I havnt gotten a flu shot in that time. I had to fight a hospital on the issue. The required every employee to receive the flu shot or be fired. I was a visiting rep for a medical device company. They required me to have one and I refused. They wouldn't let me in on a surgery and the doctor had to come flip out on the nursing director.
After the surgery as I was leaving she got me in the hall and said I better have it for next time. I looked that bitch dead in the eye and said "I'm letting u know right now...... I'm not getting it. It's against my constitutional right to force me to get it. We'll see who wins" she walked away calling me a "child"
Next surgery I came in with a doctors note that said I was allergic to eggs therefore I couldn't receive the flu shot. I looked her in the eye again and said "who's the child now" then got scrubbed for surgery and did my case.

Mass government inoculation (sp) No thanks. 35 yrs old never had one and havent been sick in over 7 years.
Its all in your diet, and staying away from sick people. Honey. I do a shot everyday. Vitamin D. Lots of fruit and veggies everyday.
Eat out as little as possible.
If you catch it early, take high doses of Vit C, echenacia (sp) Buy a juicer and Juice, Juice, Juice

Bonaparte, your right about Down Syndrone, but maybe the parents got flu shots that caused the chromesone abnormality.
And to say that vacinnes are safe for 1-2 week old babies across the board is ignorant. We are not all the same. I certainly would not vaccinate my child.
Whats the cause of the increase of cases of Autism in the last 15 years then? its like 1 in 50 kids are diagnosed. Food? Vaccines?

Now that's funny. Made me laugh which makes me cough (extremely painful).
JJ78 my diet is good I take plenty of supplements and eat lots of fruit and veggies. I was just unfortunate and got exposed several times not to mention I have a kid in grade school who woke up in the middle of the night barfing everywhere, and now my wife woke up with a 102 fever. So now I'm surrounded and I'm the one who's gonna have to suck it up and deal with everything. Man I hate being sick. I did see a good movie last night that I recorded a while back called Promised Land. Good movie with an interesting twist at the end.Last edited by optionsdude; 01-16-2014 at 04:04 PM. Yup, kids will get ya. The last time I was sick, years ago, got it from my neice and nephew. Cant really control that. Schools are breeding grounds for viruses.
Sucks, bro. 7-10 days is all it will last probably. Drink lots of water.
That was a pretty good movie, saw it a couple of weeks ago.

I was somewhat functional today and the headache has subsided somewhat. I even had a little bit of an appetite again. The cough is horrible not very persistent but when it happens it's bad. Oh well I'll try to catch up on things tomorrow and get ready to go back to the grind.

Oh that sucks, mostly for you. Rest of course is best and due to your situation it's not really an option right now.
Keep up on the fluids, vitamins, not to many, they can upset the stomach if not taken with food. Zinc is always good.
Rent some movies for everyone to watch, relax and take your mind off the discomfort.
Hope you are feeling 100% soon.
