I have three boxers great dogs
Short hair loyal easy to train
Protective of the house and family.
They do need room to stretch their legs .and they fart all day long.

I've had a few dogs over the years.
By far the best dog I've owned was my
    Doberman Pinscher.
I have young kids and My Dobe was great with them. My youngest would literally rider her like a horse.
Also the most loyal dog I've ever met.

A Doberman would make a great pet.

If your looking for a intimidating large dog.
Look into a Canis Panther. They're very rare and expensive. Beautiful dogs though.

The people we got her from. ..mom, dad and daughter....together u could not get their house. The three broke through a car windshield once. But thats cause a guy was tormenting them.

Theres a book or short story on one in japan. Very cool story. Google akita and train station...maybe. ill try too. They ended up putting a statue of the dog at the station. Really amazing and loyal dogs

Wow! Very moving story. The kind of loyalty you only find in "man's best friend"! I'll have to see if I can find that movie somewhere.

What breed is your new buddy?

Rottweiler.....The most loving loyal breed I have seen. Other than Rotties, Newfoundlads, Great Danes and Bull Mastifs are great breeds. But my first choice would be a Rottie.

A red nose from raising Cain kennels in Texas. That's where my dog came from. My toddler bugs him nonstop jumps on him, pulls his tail, chases him with his toys. Best breed out there,

Brindle red nose pit! Good looking dog. I think pits are the most misunderstood dogs.

No just red. American pit bull terrier. Not a stafford, nickname for them before back in the 20's was grandma for their caring abilities. Smart and very loyal. Never had any issues just have to remember it's a pit so no matter what it's gonna be their fault

Still a good looking dog. I feel bad for pits, there are no bad dogs...Just bad owners in my opinion.

The other issue with St. Bernard's I have heard about is their drooling. Apparently they can be pretty messy or so I am told. I believe the salivary glands responsible for drooling can be removed without affecting their digestion and normal salivary processes.
St bernards drooling is way to much.
Bull mastiff. Cane corso. I would probably just look for a large rottweiler much easier to take car of and extremely loyal.

A large and muscular dog, the Rhodesian Ridgeback was not only developed as hunter but also as a family protector. The breed can be light wheaten to red wheaten and are sleek and glossy in appearance. Originally bred to hunt lions the breed is also known as the African Lion Hound.

Beautiful dog! Still trying to convince HAW to rethink the St. Bernard. She's in love with pictures of puppies she's seen but I keep telling her she may regret the decision when we can't get rid of all the damn dog hair!

She won't go with the Rottweiler. She's not impressed by their appearance. I like the dog, however, and they do get pretty big.

Newfoundland is a good alternative to the St. Bernard. They are as big if not bigger, and the are one of the most gentile dog breeds there are. However, their hair is an issue. There is lots of it.

I have seen these dogs. My parents had one when I was new born but obviously I was too young to recall. I've seen pictures of their old dog. Gorgeous animal.

Love your picture of the dog at the sink. Classic!

I love dogs but my pet peeve (pardon the pun) is dog hair. I hate going to meetings looking like I was rolling around on the floor with my dog before hand. No matter how hard I've tried in the past, you just can't keep your clothes entirely free from dog hair. I love dogs, their loyalty, as companionship but the hair I can do without.

I love dogs. Especially when I go to the Philippines. They have the best BBQ dog I have tasted. Thailand isn't bad either but they dont use enough BBQ sauce IMO.

Horse meat is also pretty good if it's done right. My sister has 4 horses and has had at least 1 since she was about 8. She says horse meat is good also.

    Horse meat is the best!!!!!

Dog was pretty good in Vietnam but apparently some places don't serve it fresh so we were advised to limit our consumption.

A German Shepherd IMO is probably one of the best dogs you can own but they are difficult as puppies and need exercise. They are so loyal smart and just want to please their owners. They are super easy to train but they need to know they are on the bottom of the totem pole. They can do ok in the heat but you will never get to see there full mane during the winters which makes them look awesome

Some mastiffs are lazy and most are very dominant and stubborn and need experienced handlers. IMO you should never own working breeds unless everyone is assertive.

With all large breed dogs prepare for vet bills. We just laid 6500 for my dogs him and then we are getting the other one done in 6 months. 13000. This little shit better live a long time

Cane Corso is our next dog. I wanted a presa caniro but its just too much dog. IMO if you have never owned a working dog a cane could be a bad idea as a first dog unless you are willing to pay for trainers becuase they need a lot of socializing with people and dogs. They will try to rule the house but they will die defending you

I spelled hip wrong. He is getting a double hip replacement (over 6 month peroid. Cant do both at same time) and we paid extra for him to stay at vet for the first week because of how difficult it is limiting the dogs movement and cause the hip to come out

Great dog. Needs strong assertive owners or they can become difficult to deal with.
